Advantages and pleasant "bonuses" in working with tapes

Recently, crafts from ribbons have attracted active attention and demand. And this is not surprising, because this type of creativity does not cause any particular difficulties in the implementation and choice of material. Ribbons are sold at any hardware and sewing supply store and cost a penny.

If you are an active mom and like to do something new with your child, then this activity is for you. Having made at least one craft, you will give your children invaluable experience in working with a thread and a needle, help in the development fine motor skills hands and imagination.

In addition, you can improve your old clothes, accessories and household items. Below are photo examples of ribbon crafts that were made together with children.

What do you need?

It's very simple, because all you need is needles, threads and ribbons of any color and width. If you want to create a picture, then you will need to purchase a fabric that is strong enough to pass a needle and ribbon without much effort.

Several types of fabrics are suitable for this: canvas (used in embroidery) on which there is already a pattern, for those who are just starting, or without a pattern. You can also use ready-made accessories or clothing items (case, pillow, glove, elastic band, dress).

In the world of ribbons, you are provided with a huge selection of colors and fabric materials such as satin, pleated and silk. It is satin ribbons that often attract lovers of high-quality and durable work with their brilliance and strength.

To choose a needle, you should be guided by the width of the eye, it is advisable to take with you the ribbons that you will use in your work when buying a needle and check whether it will be convenient for you to work with them.

Please note that in this type of work you will not need a perfectly sharp needle, it is better to use a needle with a blunt end, since it will not tear the threads of your main fabric. To fix the edge of the tape, a regular lighter is usually used.

Thus, to make a craft from ribbons with your own hands, you will not need a lot of time and money, and in return you will receive an original hand-made interior decoration or a gift for your loved ones.

From basics to perfection

The variety of tape crafting techniques ranges from simple, which even children can practice, to more complex ones. First you need to understand the easy version of crafts from ribbons, such as decorating hairpins with various bows and flowers, weaving bracelets, decorating wardrobe and household items.

Artificial flowers from ribbons

The most popular option is to make various colors for decor and gifts. Let's start with a simpler technique with detailed description for beginners:

  • Take a satin ribbon of the desired color and fold it into an "accordion"
  • Cut out the detail in the shape of a flower petal
  • Do the same as in point 1, only with a different color of the tape, which will play the role of leaves in your craft
  • Cut out the part in the shape of a leaf
  • Burn the edges of the parts and glue the flower-shaped petals and leaves separately
  • Decorate with rhinestones and sequins if desired.

Attention! Do not leave children unattended with flammable objects.

So, we have mastered the most simple technique making a flower from ribbons and now you can proceed to more complex manipulations using folds, glue and a lighter.

To make a rose, we need: a satin ribbon of any color 5 cm wide and about 90 cm long, a lighter, tweezers, scissors, glue.

Stages of work

  • We cut segments 5 cm thick and 11 cm long, which we should get 8 pieces
  • We take a segment and turn it to ourselves with the wrong side, then bend the upper edge by 0.5 cm
  • Center the top right corner
  • Then the lower right corner is also wrapped in the center, and at an angle of 45 degrees we cut off part of the lower corner (tweezers are used for convenience). The resulting edge is burned with a lighter
  • We repeat the same with the left side and fix it with a lighter
  • As a result, we get 8 petals

Bud assembly

  • We take glue and drip 1 drop on the edge of the petal (it is advisable to use a “glue moment” or a glue gun), then we fold the petal in a circle, forming a bud
  • We fix with glue from the second edge of the petal
  • We take the next petal and drip glue on the edge, take a ready-made bud and start wrapping it with a petal, fix it again with glue from the other edge.
  • Thus, we form a rose flower, doing the same with the rest of the petals. Do not be afraid to use your imagination and deviate from the rules, because this is your creativity.

Popular kanzashi technique

We gradually gain experience in working with tapes and approach more complex techniques. I think you have noticed more than once on the Internet beautiful photos with bouquets of artificial flowers, beautiful hairstyles with unusual hairpins and accessories - all this handmade made with kanzashi ribbons.

For this work, blanks are used in the form of squares, cut and fired along the edges. They make petals, which come with sharp and round edges, and then form a flower out of them using a thick thread.

Next, glue the flowers to the base of cardboard or thick fabric. These flowers can be transferred to any accessory (hat, case, bag, shoes) or make a beautiful wall panel. To complement, many attach rhinestones or sequins to flowers.

You can understand the manufacturing technique in more detail by watching a video with a master class from real needlewomen.

Greetings to all gathered on my blog on this sunny (or maybe not so) day. If you want to learn how to make cool ribbon flowers, then I highly recommend reading this article to the end.

Flowers made of satin (and not only) ribbons can be used both for decorating gift wrapping and as a gift itself.

Especially if you collect such flowers in an elegant bouquet.

The most amazing thing is that sometimes the most beautiful of these plants are so easy to make with your own hands that it takes 10-15 minutes even for a beginner (believe my experience).

Recently, I have been making different flowers quite often and now I will share with you great master classes for their manufacture

DIY satin ribbon flowers

I'll show you 15 cool (and easy) ways to create amazing flowers. You can “take away” each of the photo master classes with you by copying the corresponding image.

Let's start, perhaps, with the most romantic and popular plants among girls - roses.

Ribbon roses

Stop buying expensive roses from the store! Let's learn how to make them ourselves and save the lion's share of the budget.

We have several roses today. The first of these is a rose, obtained by folding triangles as you progress. To make it, prepare a piece of ribbon at least 2 cm wide and at least 50 cm long.

unblown

Form the center by bending one tip as shown in the photo. Roll it up, fasten it up.

twisted rose

Remotely, in terms of the way it was created, it resembles the previous one (at least the beginning). After forming the center, alternately turn the ribbon, twisting it and applying layer by layer. Fasten at the end.

Kanzashi

The peculiarity of this rose is that all the petals are processed separately.

From braid

Finally, a rose, which is obtained by interweaving two wavy ribbons. After weaving, they need to be swept along the edge so that they do not fall apart. And then just roll over.

Flowers from kanzashi ribbons

In general, kanzashi is originally a “hair decoration” from Japanese. It has gone since the time of geishas, who differed, among other things, in the ability to skillfully needlework.

There are two forms of petals in kanzashi - round and sharp. The rest is subspecies. So all flowers to some extent can be attributed to this type of art.

Hibiscus

An exotic guest for which you will need a wide ribbon (about 5 cm wide), base and stamens.

Just a flower with 5 petals

To make spiky elements, sew the center. Fold the future petal in half and hem the inside. Prepare 5 pieces, then string on a thread. Decorate the center.

Bell

For the bell, prepare the petals according to the photo. To roll them, fold the petals with high straight edges to each other and sew the edge (glue the top a little). Pull the thread, collect the resulting parts, decorating with stamens or beads.

Semitsvetik

For it, you need to prepare 7-9 petals using the classic method used in kanzashi. Then all the petals are collected on a thread, if necessary, glued together on the sides.

Aster

Just a dream, not a flower in terms of ease of execution. To make an aster, take your ribbon and sew a line of running stitches in a zigzag across the entire width. Pull up, roll up. Everything

Peony

For a peony, take three ribbons: two for the petals, one for the green leaf.

Please note that the peony consists of two parts - a more closed bud and opening petals.

Master classes on flowers in video format

Not everyone likes to study photography, so I have prepared for you some flower-making tutorials in video format.

Chamomile

To create a chamomile, you will need many, many burnt petals (pieces of ribbon 0.6 cm wide and 3.5 cm long), as well as a base - a circle of cardboard.

callas

One of the easiest plants in this article. Easier, perhaps, only aster.

Sunflower

According to the principle of creation, it is very similar to a chamomile, but here you will have to tinker more with the petals.

Star

Elegant flower, consisting of 5 elements and the middle.

snow fairy tale

An unusually beautiful flower made from a wide ribbon. It was difficult to attribute it to some species, so let it be called that

A wonderful effect will be obtained if you combine several types of ribbons from the same series. This is easy to do with modern kits that include up to several dozen ribbons in the same style.

On this I say goodbye to you. See you soon! Be sure to tell me if you know any other ways to create flowers.

P.S. Subscribe and learn how to give cool gifts

The tape should be placed on opposite sides of the needle. Subsequently, when you collect the entire ribbon, pull the thread and secure with a knot. Carefully unfold the workpiece around the circumference so that it is located in a spiral line. Form the shape of the butterfly wings, fixing with a thread so that they do not crumble.

Make the body with the antennae by preparing 2 small beads (for the antennae) and 3 large ones (for the body). Pass the wire through the bead and twist the two ends of the wire, about 1 cm. Then add the second bead and twist the wire again 1 cm.

In the remaining 2 ends of the wire, put one large bead, then dividing the ends of the wire, put 2 large beads on one of them. Attach the body to the butterfly and secure the bottom with wire. Glue on the crocodile clasp.

Then fold one edge of the tape down perpendicularly. Then, lower the horizontally located segment of the ribbon down, bending it and applying it parallel to the sheer part of the element.
