The child asks to do something unusual and you need to take it urgently? Make him a robot suit out of a cardboard box. How? Vivien Schwartz's book "I AM A ROBOT" will tell you, which was published by the publishing house "MANN, IVANOV AND FERBER".

I AM A ROBOT

If you have a large cardboard box and a restless child in your house, then this book is just made for your family. Thanks to an interesting comic story about a boy who, together with his mother, assembles a robot from an empty cardboard box, you can simulate real masterpiece- your own robot. The book also contains a lot of tips and ideas that will help the child develop creativity. After all, it is not at all necessary to create what is shown in the picture, when you can create your own unique design.

What awaits you at the end of the book? And at the end, you and your child will receive a certificate of the chief designer and his adult assistant!

Who needs the book "I am a ROBOT"?

This toy book, creative book, instruction book in one is necessary for children who love to fantasize and embody their ideas. It will also be useful for parents who need to keep their child busy for a while, since almost nothing is needed to create a robot out of a cardboard box: just the materials that are in every home are enough - colored pencils and felt-tip pens, scissors, adhesive tape and, of course, , creative.

You can learn more about how to make a robot out of a cardboard box from the book "I AM A ROBOT". You can buy it

Decided to play a little and for this chose a game based on your favorite science fiction book? Or thoroughly prepare for your favorite holiday - In both cases, a robot suit will help you out.

Necessary materials

The most voluminous material at hand that we need if we make a robot suit with our own hands is two packing boxes. So, we check our home stocks, and if necessary, we buy more:

  • foil;
  • colored paper;
  • wire (piece);
  • glue (may be universal);
  • brush;
  • scissors;
  • ruler;
  • pencil;
  • awl.

Still can't do without tape.

Main stages of work

Our goal is to make a robot suit. First of all, we begin to make a head. At a small cardboard box, we cut off those parts that will not be needed during the work. We should get a cube with one side missing.

Next, we determine which side will be the image of the face. On it, carefully draw a cutout. Moreover, its shape can be any: square, rectangular, round. You can limit yourself to cutting holes for the eyes. The main thing is that they are not too small. Otherwise, the outfit will be uncomfortable. Then cut out the resulting hole. We take the foil and paste over the part with it. Then think about how you can arrange the front part. Perhaps you decide to place buttons and levers on it. You should not worry about their symmetrical arrangement: after all, robots do not have to be exactly like each other.

What is a robot without an antenna

We continue to make a robot costume for a boy. This character has antennae on his head. To make them, we pierce a couple of holes with an awl. Be careful: it should be exactly the top of the head. The distance between the holes should be about three to four centimeters. We bend the wire so that the resulting antennas are the same size, and the gap between them is equal to the distance between the holes. After the wire is inserted, take the tape and attach the antenna to the inside of the head. To cover the holes on top, gray plasticine is suitable.

Tips are attached to the mustache of the part. To make them, you need a foam rubber sponge. They are cut to shape, smeared with available glue and mounted on a wire.

Making a torso

Remember when you stocked up on two boxes? It is the turn of the second of them, since then we make the torso. As in the manufacture of the "head", we cut off unnecessary parts in the box. As a result, we should get a cardboard box of decent height. It should have no bottom edge. Let's take care of the hole for the head. To do this, mark the borders in the upper part and cut out a round hole. The size of the circle must be made such that the head can pass freely, but at the same time the box should not fall off the shoulders either.

Examine that robot suit that you get. Are you satisfied with everything? If yes, then you can continue the work and start cutting holes for the hands. They can be round in shape and located close to the upper body. But there is another option: cut through fairly wide slots that would start closer to the bottom of the side borders. Then you need foil for pasting the torso.

When preparing a robot suit for a boy, the front side of the torso can be made using a candy box. The main thing is that it has thick walls and a hinged lid. Well, if it matches the size of the child's breasts. Under the finished panel, you can place disks, devices, attach a light bulb that turns on by pressing. Then, when you open the box, you get a complete illusion that the very real insides of a fantastic character appear before your eyes.

Let's improve the outfit

In general, the New Year's robot costume is ready. But nothing prevents your imagination from improving it and supplementing it with other details. For example, legs. Here you can’t do without old sneakers, slippers or boots without lacing. That is, it should be such shoes with which you do not have to suffer, lacing it up or fastening it. You will also need two narrow and long boxes. Usually they are closed on the narrow and long side. It is sealed, and both sides of the smaller size are cut off. We paste the resulting part with foil. And we sew shoes to the bottom of our limbs. Everyone, let's go have fun.

Important additions

The boxes should be the same size. Their shape is not important, but a box in the shape of a cube is preferable for making the top of the robot suit. Foil is better suited culinary, in a roll. If this is not available, you can use the usual one with a paper base. The foil can be replaced with a shiny gray cloth.

Fabric suit

For those craftswomen who are thinking about how to make a robot suit out of fabric, we present short description work. You need to buy a holographic silver fabric. For convenience, a silver zipper is sewn into the overalls, it is better to make the collar stand up. Some unnecessary board from old computer equipment can be glued on the breast pocket. Buttons in this outfit will be buttons that are pre-fitted with fabric.

If you are worried about what it will be like for a child to spend the holiday with a cardboard box on his head, then you can replace the latter with a headband. For sewing this part, the same fabric is taken as for the overalls. A large shiny red-orange button is sewn into the center of the bandage. Yes, and do not forget to attach a pair of antennas to it, for the manufacture of which an elastic metal fishing line is taken.

CREATIVE COMPETITION: CARNIVAL COSTUME – 2009

Nomination: "Carnival Creativity"

3rd group. (children from 6 years to 10 years 11 months)

In the photo: Igor Goncharov (6 years 11 months), Izhevsk, Costume designer: Svetlana Dubinina

Headgear: a box pasted over with foil. The antennas are made from a narrow strip of thick paper rolled up and extended like a real antenna, with a foil knob at the end. An indicator is drawn on the front panel. Headphones with painted lanterns on the sides.

The body of the robot is a foil-lined box with robot logos and a high voltage warning on the front and back. The front panel opens - there are disks and devices, a flashing light bulb is glued under the panel, which is turned on by pressing. The body is fastened on straps made of elastic tape with buckles.

The legs are made of shiny galoshes, the tops are made of foil, glued to the fabric for practicality (attached with ties).

Additional elements: sleeves made of foil glued to the fabric for practicality (attached with ties). Flashlights from flashing magic wands are attached to the wrists under the armlets with elastic bands. On the sleeves are devices invented and drawn by the robot itself (pre-radar, laser blade and meteorite locator!). There are rings on the fingers made of holographic foil (in the original version they were wide and on each phalanx, but it turned out to be inconvenient, so they made them narrow)

Accessories: gun or blaster, preferably silver

Comments: the child just raves about robots. He came up with the costume himself, described it in detail, and I just had to follow his requirements exactly. The name of the IJ-88 robot is also his fantasy. All devices are drawn by him. The main thing in this suit is the choice of convenient boxes. The box-head should sit tightly on the head and not slide out into the eyes. The box-body should be flat and cut off at the level of the belt, otherwise the movements are difficult, under the armpits, too, you need to cut a semicircle under the arms. It is necessary to fasten it on rubber straps, make cuts on both sides of the box and simply fasten it with buckles (like buttons).

The front panel was made from a candy box with thick walls and a hinged lid. With us, this box exactly matched the size of the chest and gave the complete illusion that these were the insides of a robot. When our robot came to the garden, the effect was amazing. The robot was a hit with both boys and girls. Everyone strove to open the front panel, pull the antennas. And when he turned on the flashing lights on his arms and chest.

Tip: It is better to use holographic foil, although we only have one on hand. The suit turned out to be very comfortable and, most importantly, strong, he was worn around the house in it until spring, all the male guests stood in line for fitting.

Reason for choosing a costume: the desire of a child

Costume idea: own fantasy

Making a costume according to the author's own assessment: quite simple, only a little experience is needed.

This suit is made by a sewing enthusiast with a great experience (more than 10 years).

How to make a New Year's Robot costume for the New Year?

The abundance of fantastic cartoons and films also dictates the fashion for carnival costumes for boys. More and more often at matinees there are robots, transformers. Of course, most often the Robot costume is made from boxes of different sizes. They are covered with foil or decorated with silver paint. An excellent addition to such an outfit would be unnecessary CDs.

The outfit of such a robot looks more gentle and stylish. He filled me with the image of the kind lyricist robot Werther.

All boys are crazy about transportation. Therefore, for sure, any boy will be interested in participating in the manufacture of a New Year's costume on the theme of transport. We provide here only a link to detailed wizard class for making a New Year's costume of a train, because it can be the most difficult. See link.

Attach two straps to the finished carnival costume so that the child, climbing inside the box, can put the structure on his shoulders. A pilot's helmet or a fireman's helmet, for example, will complement the image.

And what costume will be the most original and interesting? Of course, handmade. If you involve a child in joint creativity #8212, then the process will turn out not only instructive, but also very fun.

You need to decide who your baby will be. If there is no specific idea associated with one or another fairy-tale character, the role of which the child will play, it is worth starting from his interests.

Girls, always cute and bright, want to be princesses or fairies. Of course, they will not refuse the angel costume. To create it, materials that are always at hand will come in handy. Scotch tape, cardboard, some wire and now your girl turns into a bright angel. All you need to do is wings and a halo, and pick up a white dress.

It is possible that your young fashionista will want to go to Paris, become a real Frenchwoman, or even the Eiffel Tower itself. The famous French style in a suit is embodied easily - from the baby's wardrobe: a striped T-shirt and a beret. And the tower can be cut into individual parts from cardboard, glued with tape and covered with foil.

A funny weightless cloud will delight everyone with its softness and beauty. In this costume, the child can freely dance or play. To create it, you need to stock up on a padding polyester and a little patience. - We glue or sew pieces of synthetic winterizer onto an old dress. And voila! The cloud suit is ready.

A wonderful idea - a house on the back and horns - it turned out to be a cute snail. Making it is quite easy. - Let's roll a volumetric house in the form of a spiral from wrapping (kraft) paper, fix it like a backpack on the back. We also make funny horns from paper, crumpling it, and bright balls - we attach them to the hair hoop.

Just look at what a charming piggy you can dress up your child. It is worth investing a little patience and imagination in the costume and a wonderful image is ready. Don't be afraid to experiment.

Turn your baby, for the evening, into a real beautiful swan or into a funny and fluffy chicken. Using a glue gun, you can stick feathers on the dress and make wings. You can create a swan costume with your own hands and without much difficulty.

As for the boys, they always want to be heroes or real strong men. We put a tights on the baby, glue the mustache and draw tattoos.

We glue the suit of a brave pilot in an airplane out of cardboard. Add a helmet and goggles, and into the sky!

A small entourage and accessories that can be easily found at home will create a unique image.

The passionate love of the boys for technology and technical toys prompted the idea to create a robot suit. Become a real robot, which can be more fun for a kid. You will need foil, cardboard boxes, wire, and pieces of ventilation pipe left over from the repair. And the miracle of technology is ready!

What holiday is complete without a clown? This is the brightest, funniest and most groovy character at any carnival or masquerade. You can easily make a beautiful clown costume with your own hands. A voluminous collar and cuffs can be made from a ready-made paper garland, a cap and a round nose complete the look.

Dinosaurs, monsters - all this is fascinating and interesting. And for a Halloween masquerade, it will come in handy. Dinosaur costume can be made from cardboard boxes. It will be light, original and will help your child to collect the maximum number of sweets.

You can create an unforgettable image for a child with your own hands.

For these great ideas suits suits thanks Jordan.

DIY Star Wars robot costume

DIY Star Wars robot costume

A great idea for Cosmonautics Day would be to make do-it-yourself robot costumes from the well-known fantastic Star Wars saga. C-3PO and R2-D2 are perhaps the most famous robots on the planet. Kids will be happy to take part in the production of such a children's fancy dress.

R2-D2 can be made in several ways, depending on the desire and possession of the base materials.

If you have enough sheets of paper large sizes(drawing paper or the reverse side of the wallpaper that remained after the repair), then this method is suitable for. Make a helmet according to the papier-mâché system (by sticking stripes on balloon, followed by piercing it), and the body in the form of chain mail. Don't forget to put pads on your legs (like knee pads)

Another way: an Ikea toy basket ( white or painted), cut holes for the hands and cut out the bottom. Decorate the basket and glue the decor elements. Make a helmet using the papier mache technique. Clothing must be white.

Making C-3PO is a more complex process. The entire structure must be made of whatman paper or cardboard. Choosing the right paint is important. Old sneakers should also be painted gold. Make a helmet using the papier mache technique.

You can't forbid beautiful sewing!

You can't forbid beautiful sewing!

Learn to sew online with Elena Krasovskaya

The whole of December in my blog “You can’t forbid beautiful sewing!” hosted a Christmas costume contest. Almost every day brought us a new story and beautiful children's costumes!

I am grateful to all participants, tireless and creative mothers and grandmothers, aunts and sisters, who in our life, when store shelves are full of various New Year's offers and beckon to buy, then the Spider-Man costume, then the Winx Dolls, prefer to create carnival costumes for children with their own hands!

How many original, beautiful, interesting costumes we saw (I confess that I admire them from time to time)))!

But, behind this pre-holiday, competitive fuss, I did not have time to tell about our carnival costumes. I made them for my son and niece.

I'll talk about the costume soon "Snow Maiden" for my niece, so if you are interested subscribe to blog updates HERE so as not to miss the article.

And today the story about the costume for my son - Alien robot "Ultimo".

The story behind this costume is as follows:

One of the participants in our competition, Ekaterina (House with Children), told us that the idea of their Op-Op Clown costume was suggested to her by her son Sem. He drew a sketch, and Katya, having edited it, sewed a wonderful costume. On the collective blog Friends of the Butterfly Yanochka, Katya invited other mothers to join and create her own carnival costume.

Why not? I began to ask my Vanyushka who he wants to be on New Year. After some thought, he gave me such an option - Ultimo !!

I, like many of you, without even knowing who he was talking about, suggested that he draw a character. The drawing did not clarify, then, having found out where the “legs grow” from (the cartoon about Iron Man), she offered to watch the cartoon together.

Of course, the image of this Alien Robot sent from the ancient world with a special mission (as it is said in the cartoon) did not impress me at all, it is somehow evil and huge! But, Vanya begged me so much, saying that he would be a good Robot, that I had to give up.

Having thrown a sketch of the future costume and thought through the details, they began to prepare for tailoring.

Fabric chose gray! (mandatory condition of the son) colors - an inexpensive raincoat fabric. Easy to sew, low maintenance and economical. Everything about everything took two meters of raincoat fabric and 200 rubles.

First, the jumpsuit was sewn and immediately tried on, and then the rest of the details. By the way, I made a hat using a pattern from a recently sewn hat with earflaps. A few changes and a hat with earflaps turned into a helmet. it turned out such a kind Robot “Ultimo”

Son loved the costume, he ran in it all evening, portraying the Robot.

For greater similarity, we also made glasses for the Robot, but since the son could not wear glasses for more than five minutes, all the holidays were celebrated without them.

There were plenty of “Christmas Trees”, where one could show off a costume and reincarnate, this year – as many as four performances! And there was not a single one where we were not asked the question - Who is Vanya?

There were the following assumptions - an astronaut, a super hero and even a firefighter!

And Vanyushka just played his role and enjoyed the holidays ...

The child was satisfied, participated in all competitions, dances and round dances, and this is the most important thing for mom!

The process of sewing such a suit Robot - an alien "Ultimo”, a jumpsuit that can be used as the basis for another costume or for wearing in everyday life, I will show in the following issues.

P.S. I found a fragment of the cartoon, though only on English language, but who Ultimo is here is immediately clear.

Of course, I don’t really like such cartoons, after all, in my opinion, there is a lot of aggression in them, but for some reason all the boys (even those who are 30-40 years old) love action movies and similar horror stories. I wonder why?

Good luck, Elena Krasovskaya http://shjem-krasivo.ru/

Made a wonderful costume. Your robot is very cute and kind.

Natalia, thank you very much! I tried very hard to make such a character better)))

Interesting costume! But I hope I don't see violent cartoons - I have two daughters :)

Lyudmila, I also think that such cartoons do not threaten you)). Still, this is another difference between boys and girls - a different worldview. boys, on a subconscious level, are heroes and breadwinners, and girls are future keepers of the hearth) Thank you for your comment!

Elena, I really liked your costume. I immediately remembered the robot Werther (from the Guest from the future). I am also FOR asking older children what they want to be on New Year's Eve.

Zhenya, thanks! And I keep thinking, well, who does our costume remind me of - of course, Robot Werther! He, too, was in a similar gray suit))) Probably, it was my childhood memories (on a subconscious level) that helped me with the implementation of the costume. That's how it happens))) Thank you, Zhenechka!

Lena, tell me, did you get the book? I sent you two weeks ago.

Marina, we received a notice.) As soon as we pick it up from the post office, I will write about it right away! Thank you very much for the gift! My son is already looking forward to it. After let's go to school by mail))

FUH, otherwise I was already worried :) Well, now I am calm that it has come :)

Marinochka, yes, everything is fine, we received the book! Our thanks here http://shjem-krasivo.ru/novoe/spasibo.html

Isn’t it too hot for a child in a raincoat coat to be in the room, she doesn’t breathe, even though she’s thin.

Alyona, we checked this particular material. It is lightweight and surprisingly breathable. But, in each case, you need to look at the fabric, taking into account the sensitivity of the child. If in doubt, it is better to use natural materials.

From pumpkin carving to carving boxes! It's Halloween! Therefore, get creative and make a unique costume using scrap materials. To make a robot suit from the future, you will need a large box for the body, another one for the head, decoration materials such as foil from wrappers and bottle caps, and of course, you will also have to come up with some interesting sounds that could publish a robot. Whoa-peak-peak-peak!

1. To make the head of our robot, cut a large rectangular hole in the front panel. This will be your robot's mouth and the whole box will be its head.

2. Use foil trays, bottle caps and straws to make the robot's eyes and antennae.

3. Attach it all to the box using tape, duct tape, or a stapler.

4. The big box is the "body" of the robot. Cut out holes for the hands on the sides of the box. Your largest box will become the body of the robot. Attach foil trays around the hand holes. Fasten them.

5. Now - the most interesting. Gather materials such as shoeboxes, plastic trays, bottle caps, CDs, and foil trays to accessorize your robot's front panel. Arrange them on the body, according to your taste.

6. Secure all parts. Then place the "head" of the robot on top of the "body" before cutting a hole the same size as the top box in the top of the box. Fasten the boxes together securely.

7. Finally to complete appearance of your robot, you can draw temperature and other sensors.

8. Your robot is ready for any adventure! For a more complete look, you can make foil sleeves, as well as make cardboard pants, and the same shoes.

Ready? Sweet or attack!

The robot costume is one of the most sought after outfits for any holiday or event. Melon character - the protagonist numerous cartoons and movies. Of course, it is easier to buy a suit in specialized stores. However, it is much more pleasant to show imagination and make it with your whole family with your own hands.

Required materials to create a robot suit

The main distinguishing feature of this unusual outfit is a headdress from which antennae protrude. The body is a flat shape resembling a rectangle. On it are inscriptions warning of high voltage. Galoshes are most often worn on the feet. The robot is a bright unusual character from the future.

To make a robot suit you will need common materials and appliances that are in every home:

  • two boxes or cardboard from the package;
  • foil;
  • thick paper or cardboard;
  • adhesive tape;
  • scissors;
  • a set of colored paper;
  • wire;
  • glue;
  • brushes;
  • ruler;
  • paint on paper or felt-tip pens.

Attention! It is better to use boxes of the same size, but the shape can be completely different.

Instructions for making a robot suit with your own hands and work steps

Making an interesting costume with your own hands is quite simple, observing certain sequence actions and simple recommendations:

  • The creative process begins with the manufacture of the head. You need to take a small box and cut off the excess parts. The result should be a cube with three sides. On the front part, draw a convenient cutout for the child's face in the form of a square, rectangle or circle and cut it out. Further, the box is covered with foil and the face is decorated with interesting details in the form of multi-colored buttons;
  • Next, you need to place an antenna on your head. To do this, two notches are made on the top of the box at a short distance from each other. It is better to use wire as the material for the manufacture of the antenna. It is bent in half and threaded into the holes obtained, attaching it inside with adhesive tape to the surface of the box. The remaining recesses on the outside of the box are masked with paper or plasticine. Small sponges for washing dishes can be attached to the tip of the antennae using an adhesive;
  • It's time for the body. To make it, you will need another box. As in the case of the head, it is necessary to cut off excess details, so that in the end you get a rectangle without a bottom base. On the upper part, draw a recess for the head in such a way that it passes freely through it;
  • Next, you can cut out small round-shaped recesses for the passage of hands or, conversely, large areas. In the same way as the head, the surface of the body is covered with foil and decorative elements are drawn, such as danger and radiation buttons;
  • It is better to wear loose flip-flops on your feet, not laced shoes or sneakers. You will need two more narrow oblong boxes. They need to be glued and cut on the small side. Next, paste over with colored paper and attach the shoes down.

This method is one of the simplest, most convenient and not expensive. Many professional seamstresses can sew a fabric suit using special patterns. To do this, you need to buy a suitable material, preferably shiny or silver. For convenient use, a metal zipper is sewn into the front of the suit. A stand-up collar will look spectacular. Cuffs are made on the sleeves. A variety of circuits from computers and other electronic equipment are sewn onto the chest part. It can also be decorated with multi-colored flashing lanterns.

Many children choose a specific version of a robot of a certain modification. In this case, you will have to study special literature or watch movies. This will give the most accurate representation of the selected hero. It can take much more time, effort and additional materials to make such a character. In addition, the pattern drawing will have to be built independently, taking into account the technological features of the main character, as well as the parameters of the child.

With a skillful approach, a robot costume can even be made from a box of chocolates with durable paper and a hinged lid. It is better to stick discs, cassettes and other small and safe devices there. So, opening the box out of curiosity, you can see the internal content of an unusual character.

Additional accessories to complete the boy's costume

A fantastic costume can be supplemented with unusual elements. For example, foil sleeves look spectacular. They can be made by gluing foil to a fabric sleeve and decorating in an unusual way. With the help of an elastic band, it is better to make jewelry for hands. It is convenient to fix flashing lanterns or sticks on it. Fingers can also be decorated with thin foil rings. For greater realism, a pistol or blaster is handed to the hero.

Reference! A distinctive feature from many other costumes is that to complete this look, you do not need to apply makeup and do special hairstyles. This fact is especially liked by boys.

Thus, you can make a festive outfit for an unusual character quickly and without extra financial costs. We hope that this article will be useful and help to make an exclusive thing, as well as bring joy to children and adults.
