Quilling patterns. Quilling: learning to create real masterpieces in paper rolling technique

Especially in the modern world, what has become valuable is what is done with soul, with fiction, the production of which was approached not formally, but selectively and creatively. An individual, piece work, in which the author's intention and his mood are read - only this stands out from the stream, pleases the eye and gives positive emotions.

Today, together with master Oksana Maslova, we will try to convey our mood through the art of paper rolling, paper-plasticity - quilling. Our master class "name letter" dedicated to mastering the basic quilling techniques and designed for those who are just beginning to explore the elegant world of "paper filigree".

What is quilling?

quilling This is the art of paper rolling. The word quilling is derived from the English word "quill" - a bird's feather. In ancient times (XIV-XV centuries), nuns twisted strips of gilded paper into spirals, putting them on the sharp tip of a bird's feather. Thus, lace compositions were created, a kind of mosaic for decorating icons. Over time, the art of quilling went beyond the walls of monasteries and acquired a secular character. Ladies from high society decorated caskets, family coats of arms with airy paper curls, framed mirrors and many other items, imitating filigree, forging, metal plate products. Now quilling has become a widely popular hobby and accessible to everyone, thanks to the simplicity of the technique, low cost and its beauty. This bright world of plastic and paper will interest not only adults, but also children, it will give them a wonderful opportunity for creativity and self-expression.

Master class "Nominal letter"

So, today our work in the quilling technique is called "Name letter". We will lay out the letter using the contour quilling technique, combining it with the basic elements - rolls. Thus, our goal is to get acquainted with the basics of quilling, to master the skills thanks to which we will be able to embody our creative ideas brightly and gracefully.

The main tools that we will use during our lesson:

  • Quilling fork (a tool for twisting paper strips). This tool is the main tool in the quilling technique. With its help, strips of paper are easily twisted into various elements, which are subsequently used to decorate our works.
  • Plastic ruler-template for quilling on a cork base. Indispensable for creating identical even elements, for collecting rolls with a shifted center, as well as for hasking (loop quilling). This is a separate branch in quilling. Pins are placed on the base and strips of paper are wrapped around them, forming loops. The element is more filigree, weightless and delicate. Looped quilling is usually used to make airy forms, for example, butterfly wings, birds, angels.
  • Cork mat. Convenient for collecting individual parts into a final element.
  • Tweezers with straight or angled nose. It will be convenient for collecting small details in the overall composition.
  • Scissors.
  • Headed pins (English) for securing elements and creating looped shapes. They also help to create a design with a displaced center (eccentric).
From the materials we will prepare:
  • Quilling paper - multi-colored strips, often packaged in kits, sold in specialty stores for crafting, handicraft, scrapbooking or quilling. As an alternative to purchased strips - double-sided colored paper, cut into strips 3, 5 or 7 mm wide.
  • Glue for paper (preferably PVA or a glue pen). The most important thing in glue is that it must be thick. In the process, it must be mixed so that it remains homogeneous and applied evenly. In our work on the name letter, it is very convenient to use a glue pen, thanks to the sharp tip of which the glue lays down in a neat thin line.
  • Colored or plain cardboard for the base, which is very important in contour quilling. You can always beat its color and texture, which will add its flavor to our work. You can choose an already tinted base or tint the desired areas according to the design of the composition. It is better to take cardboard with a slightly rough surface, not too smooth, which will ensure fast and strong adhesion, adhesion between surfaces.
  • Carbon paper (for transferring letters to the base).
Having prepared everything necessary for creativity, we select the letter that we would like to make. It can be the capital letter of your first or last name, or any other. For the contour of the letter, we select thick paper (120-160 g / m 2) with a width of 0.5 mm. The patterns inscribed in the canvas of the letter can be made from narrower (0.3 mm) and less dense stripes.

After we have decided on the letter (size, font), the color of the base and outline, we get to work.

Contour quilling - step by step instructions

  1. As accurately as possible, we draw the outline of the letter through the carbon paper onto the cardboard base. This must be done without blots, so that the work is neat and beautiful.
  2. Using a toothpick or a needle, apply glue to the end (edge) of the strip and connect the smeared edge with the outline of the letter drawn on the base. Here you need to briefly fix the strip to give the glue the opportunity to grab and dry a little. Thus, we gradually lay out the outline of our letter. This painstaking process can be facilitated by using a glue pen. Glue pen allows you to apply glue in a thin line straight to the base, and only then fix a strip of paper on it.
  3. When laying out the letter, we pay attention to the fact that all connections, joints between the stripes pass along its underside.
  4. In order to carefully lay out and glue all the corners and bends of the letter, we will use a cork quilling mat and pins with a hat. We put the mat under the base, prick the letters of the pins in the corners, stretch the strip along them and glue it.
  5. After the contour of our letter is glued and dried, we remove all the pins, remove the base from the cork backing and fill the contour of the letter with beautiful elements, harmoniously matched by color.
In the quilling technique, there are several basic elements, each of which has its own name. Based on the "roll" element, the following are formed: a drop, an eye, a rhombus, a square, a triangle, a tulip (lily of the valley or a bell), an arrow, a crescent, a semicircle ... Other important elements in quilling are "scrolls". These include: "S-scroll", "V-scroll", "heart", "curl" and "twig".

In order for our composition to turn out neat and beautiful, we will take into account a few nuances:

  • We cut off a strip of paper, but do not cut it off. This makes its edge thinner and the middle of the roll is invisible.
  • We pay attention to the fact that there is no factory glue left on the end of the strip, with which all the strips in the set are connected to each other.
  • Remember that the tools differ in the size and texture of the handle, the width and length of the slot. We select a quilling fork under our hand so that it fits comfortably in our hand. This will help at work.
  • The cut in the tool must match the width of the strip and the weight of the paper. As a rule, these data are indicated on a set of quilling paper. So, if paper with a density of 160 g / m 2, then we take a plug with a wider connector. For paper with a density of 80 g / m 2, you need a fork with a narrow slot. The height of the fork connector must also match the width of the paper strip. For a strip 3-5 mm wide, we take a fork 5 mm high, for a strip 5-10 mm wide, a tool with a slot height of 1 cm is suitable.

To better understand the basic elements of quilling, consider the manufacture of some of them in more detail.

Making the basic elements of quilling

How to make a "tight roll"

We insert the edge of the strip into the slot of the tool and twist a tight roll, holding and controlling its evenness. We also carefully remove the roll so that it does not stretch out with a cone. Two or more colors of paper can be used. When one strip ends, we glue the other one so that the joint is no more than 2-4 mm and continue to twist. A tight roll, unlike a loose one, is not relaxed, but immediately glued using a brush, toothpick or needle to apply glue. To perform tight rolls, you can also use a special tool. It's called "tight roll tool".

On the basis of tight we make a "loose roll"

To create a roll of a certain diameter, it is convenient to use a template ruler. We insert the twisted tight roll into the template, where it unwinds to the required size, after which we fix the tip with glue. You can also glue the roll before giving it a certain shape. This master chooses himself.

Element "eye"

We twist a tight roll, dissolve it to the required size and crush it, squeeze it with the index and thumbs of both hands along the edges, on both sides and glue it.

"Rhombus"

We squeeze the loosened roll, as during the production of the "eye", tightly close the index and thumb of one hand with the index and thumb of the other to form a rhombus.

Very beautiful element of quilling - "drop"

We unroll the twisted roll either in the hand, holding it with our fingers, or, if we need a certain size, in a pattern with circles. After we squeeze the roll with our fingers on one side and get the shape of a droplet. We glue the "tail" of the strip and let it dry.

The following elements of quilling are made according to the same principle:

"Arrow"

We relax the roll, make a drop, glue it and press the lower part of the drop inward with our fingers, slightly sharpening the edges. Also, this element can be done with a pencil or pen.

"Triangle"

Press the slightly relaxed roll with two fingers of the right hand and press the third side with the finger of the left. Thus we get a triangle.

"Square"

Slightly squeeze the sides of the loose roll, as in the manufacture of a rhombus, but not too much, giving the shape of a square.

"Tulip"

Several of these elements can already make up a finished composition. We press one side of the twisted and slightly loosened roll inward with the back side (handle) of the quilling tool. Slightly sharpen the edges with your fingers and get a tulip. We glue the edge, and the element is ready.

"Semicircle"

It is made like a tulip. Only we form a twisted roll not with the handle of the tool, but with our fingers, and, at the same time, we do not press one side deep into, but leave it flat. It turns out a semicircle.

"Crescent"

It is made like a semicircle, but more curved.

These are the main rolls. Following the logic of their manufacture, you can fantasize, and there is no limit. You can form a cone, a spiral, a paw, an asterisk, a curved drop and many other elements, thanks to which you can decorate handmade postcards, caskets, gift wrappings. Easter eggs made using the quilling technique look very beautiful.

"S-scroll"

A strip of paper is twisted into a tight roll up to half and on the other side, also up to half, only in the opposite direction. So we get an element that looks like the letter "S". This scroll is not glued. It unfolds a little and retains the desired shape.

"V-scroll"

We bend the strip exactly in half and twist it tightly outward on each side to the fold. It turns out a scroll similar to the letter "V" or the antennae of a butterfly.

Scroll "heart"

It is done similarly to the V scroll, only we twist the strips of paper tightly not outward, but inward, to the inside of the corner. It turns out a heart. It can be laid out in a template mold and allowed to bloom to the desired size.

Scroll "curl"

The strip is twisted almost to the end into a tight roll and unfolds naturally. It turns out a curl on an even or slightly curved stem, similar to a comma.

Scroll "twig"

We bend the strip in a ratio of 1: 2. We twist the ends in one direction.

In addition to the basic elements, you can twist a lot of arbitrary ones. For example, a wave with even or growing "lambs". It twists from any fragment of the strip in any direction. You can leave it tightly twisted, or you can dissolve it a little. There are no hard and fast rules in quilling. There are basic elements thanks to which you can build something new and no less interesting. On the basis of rolls and scrolls, you can lay out various mosaics. And for more variety, so that the work looks voluminous and colorful, you can use different colors of paper in the manufacture of one element, carefully gluing the strips one by one and twisting them. Thus, the effect of a transition in halftones or a bright juicy contrast is created. Everything is like in nature. Natural and voluminous.

Also, simple basic elements can be used to make complex ones: flowers, leaves, patterns... If we fold a flower and want its petals to be the same size, we use a template. We lay out a tight roll in the desired size, let it unwind, form droplets-petals and glue it in the same template. If you need to make a lot of different elements, then it will be more convenient to first twist the required number of rolls, glue them and set the shape. After pinning with pins to the cork mat, laying out the composition, glue it together and let it dry. The pins will prevent the assembled elements (parts) from moving. It's comfortable.

How to make a voluminous leaflet without loop quilling

It is possible to make an airy voluminous leaflet without using loop quilling. A strip of paper is cut into fragments, about 10-15 cm each. The more there are, the more voluminous our leaf will turn out. We put these fragments on top of each other, glue everything from one edge to one point. Be sure to align the strips with each other so that they lie in a neat, even pile, and then shift them along the length, fixing with glue from the other edge. It turns out an airy voluminous leaflet with veins.

Roses in quilling technique

We insert the edge of the strip into the slot of the tool. We make several turns, forming a tight roll (hold the roll with your index finger so that it does not unwind). We turn the strip outward by one bend, twist it around the fork again. We continue to make a "fold-turn" until our bud or open rose is formed. We remove the finished flower from the fork and drip a drop of glue into the middle from the bottom side so that the glue is not noticeable. You can slightly glue the lower petals with glue to secure them. Our rose is ready.

The whole process of making roses using the quilling technique, see the following video story:

Quilling paper is very flexible. It springs well, keeps its shape and is easy to manipulate. Over time, with a certain skill, all the elements you have will be formed quickly and easily. It remains only to observe the basic principle of quilling: twisting-drawing-gluing and fantasize with pleasure! In fact, quilling is so easy and fun that once you start laying out certain or abstract patterns, you won't stop. This is a mood that you want to share with others. A sea of light and colors!

Quilling - a bird's feather, translated from English. This technique originated in Europe at the end of the 15th century. At that time, by twisting paper with gilded edges with bird feathers, the monks made unusual medallions in this way.

Today we will learn how to do quilling, you will find diagrams and a description of the work below.

Below are just some patterns for quilling - flowers, an owl, a firebird, butterflies and fish:

Quilling for Beginners: Snowflake

The easiest way to start creating using the quilling technique is with a simple snowflake, so let's look at how to make it.

See the quilling master class for beginners below.

What is necessary

  • Office white paper;
  • office colored paper or plain colored paper;
  • Scissors;
  • Pencil;
  • Ruler;
  • Glue;
  • Toothpick.

Description of work

Cut or buy strips for quilling. Now we need to form the details. To do this, wind a strip of paper on a toothpick, turn it in the opposite direction a little and pull out the toothpick.

Let the roller unwind a little, then give it the shape of an eye, lightly squeeze it with your fingers.

In order for the part not to unwind, glue the edge of the strip.

It turns out such a detail as in the photo.

You need to make 12 such parts in blue and 6 white.

The next piece will be in the shape of a heart. It is necessary to fold the strip in half and twist it inward from both ends to the fold, let it unwind a little and glue it in the center.

You need to make 6 such white parts.

The next detail is the lamb. Also fold the strip in half, but wind the ends already outward.

Such details need 6 pieces of white color.

In total there should be:

6 details in the form of an eye in white and 12 in blue;

6 details in the form of a white heart;

6 details "lamb" of white color.

Snowflake assembly:

With a toothpick, very carefully, apply glue to the edge of the parts and attach them to each other.

Make this flower.

Lay out the second row of hearts like this:

In order to assemble the 3rd row, you need to glue the blue parts in the shape of an eye 2 together. Then attach them between the hearts.

The last row consists of lamb parts. Glue these details in the middle of each of the pairs in the shape of a blue eye. Glue the curls of neighboring lambs and that's it, the snowflake is ready.

To make it clearer, we attach video tutorials.

Quilling for Beginners: Flowers

It is also easy to make flowers in this technique. Below are the color schemes.

Flowers made according to these schemes can be used to create postcards, pictures and paintings.

For example:

These wonderful pictures can be made using flowers made using the quilling technique.

Valentine card in quilling technique

To make such an unusual valentine, you need strips of the size, color and quantity you need and glue.

First you need to wind a lot of spirals.

Then make elements of different shapes from spirals. Fold them into a heart shape.

With the help of the remaining elements, you need to fill in the heart, selecting elements that fit the shape.

Finally form the heart and glue all the elements together.

Volumetric heart for Valentine's Day is ready! It turns out that the quilling technique can be used not only to create paintings, even crafts can be made using this technique.

We make a butterfly using the quilling technique

First you need to glue the strips together to get 4 long multi-colored stripes. Choose the length and width according to the required size of the butterfly itself.

Now you need to make 4 rolls, 2 of which are slightly larger. Then, to make the butterfly look unusual, shift the center of each roll to one side and secure with glue.

Now you need to glue these 2 parts together. Glue a strip to the joint.

Here's what happened.

The butterfly is almost ready, it remains to make the antennae.

Bend the strip in half and glue 2 small rolls on the ends.

Using simple quilling patterns, even those who have never done this kind of crafts can master this technique.

Hello, friends!

It's no secret that paper flowers are one of the most popular quilling decor elements. They can serve as a spectacular decoration for gift boxes and boxes, postcards, panels, all kinds of 3D compositions, and so on. At the same time, the methods for making flowers using the quilling technique are very diverse, each with its own rules and nuances. And today's master class is designed to help beginners figure out how to make quilling flowers with their own hands, clarify their classification for themselves and master the basic practical techniques for making them using “live” examples. As usual, the lesson was prepared for you by Ekaterina Shkodovskaya, and she has the floor.

Materials and tools:

quilling paper,

scallop,

PVA glue.

Quilling flowers can be divided into several categories:

1. Flowers made using ordinary quilling elements.

2. Volumetric flowers made using ordinary quilling elements.

3. Openwork quilling flowers.

4. Flowers without using quilling elements.

So, let's look at all these categories in order with specific examples.

Flowers made using ordinary quilling elements, such as "drop", "eye", "wave", etc. (for more information on the manufacture of basic quilling elements, see).

The colors of this group include quilling cornflowers produced as follows:

- first we make 6 “drop” elements of bright blue color and with our finger we give them the shape of an “arrow”;

- then we make the middle of the flower: cut the fringe on a paper strip 1 cm wide and twist the strip into a roll.

After gluing the middle and petals, you should get such a cornflower:

From the same elements from which the cornflower quilling petals were made, and a convex roll, you can make charming carnations for a postcard by February 23 or Victory Day:

And if you twist tight yellow rolls and glue several white “drop” elements to them, you get quilling chamomile:

By the way, you can also make a three-dimensional composition from these daisies, for example, a bouquet.

Generally speaking, you can create a wide variety of flowers from quilling elements. The main thing in this business is observation and imagination.

As you can see, making such quilling flowers as a tulip or iris will also not be difficult at all.

Bulk flowers are technically more complex. The peculiarity of their manufacture is to use such a paper cone as a base:

For clarity, I propose to do orchid quilling. First of all, we need to prepare one “eye” element and two “crescent” elements (from white paper strips). We glue them, as shown in the photo, to get a large petal.

We will need two such petals.

In addition, you will need two "wave" elements.

From a tightly twisted small roll we will make a small cone (simply squeezing out the middle with your finger).

And before proceeding with the assembly of the flower, we tint the cone with a red stamp pad.

This is how the whole set of quilling orchid details looks like:

And now we assemble: we glue the largest petal to the inner surface of the cone base, glue two smaller petals on top, then glue two “wave” elements and a small tinted cone in the center of the flower.

You can decorate a greeting card with quilling orchids, for example, like this:

Another flower that can also be made on a paper cone is a water lily. It will be a beautiful lush flower. It is easier to make it than an orchid, because for this, in addition to the cone itself, only the “drop” elements will be required, although in quite large quantities.

When all the components of the flower are prepared, we begin to glue the petals to the convex surface of the cone (in one row). We let it dry thoroughly, after which we turn the workpiece over and glue the petals inside the cone, filling the entire space.

The number of rows of petals is individual and depends on the size of the water lily.

You can complement the floral decor with quilling leaves and curls.

If, instead of the usual petal, a small fringed flower is placed in the center of the water lily, you get a gerbera :)

Openwork quilling flowers - these are flowers with the use of openwork elements made of loops - the so-called elements of looped quilling. Such elements can be performed on the hands, using a comb or pins. How exactly to do this, let's look at the example of poppy and fantasy quilling flowers, which do not yet have a name :).

For the manufacture of poppy quilling take red stripes. First we make one loop with a pinch at the end,

then we add a few more loops in the same way until there is a piece of the strip with which we will wrap these loops. If you release the workpiece at this stage, you get such an “accordion”:

But we will not do this, but wrap the loops with the rest of the strip and glue it.

The result is an openwork element that will serve as a poppy petal.

We need four such petals. We also twist a tight black roll, which we wrap in a small fringe (also black).

We glue the petals with the cores - and the quilling poppies are ready, you can decorate postcards or other handicraft creations with them.

And now I will show you how to make looped elements on the comb. We take a strip and begin to wrap the comb teeth, making loops that increase in size with each turn. Covering four cloves on one side and four on the other, we remove the workpiece from the scallop ...

And fold in half.

We wrap the element with the remaining tip of the strip and glue it.

A two-color looped element (made of paper of similar or contrasting tones) will look especially impressive. In this case, you must first glue 2 halves of strips of different colors and wind the two-color strip on the comb.

Give the petal a pointed shape at the end. It turned out an interesting and unusual flower.

And here is another version of an openwork quilling flower made of looped elements.

* * *

Let's break this for now. Ekaterina will talk about how to make quilling flowers from the fourth group next time (subscribe to updates so as not to miss the continuation of MK). Another acquaintance with fringed flowers awaits you, as well as 2 ways to make paper roses.

See you soon in KARTONKINO! :)

Quilling flowers are currently very popular, because with their help you can not only beautifully, but very effectively decorate a gift box, box, jewelry box, photo frame, album or holiday card. Any composition made in this way looks unusual and truly luxurious. The technique itself is quite simple, but it requires patience and a certain amount of time, but the result is worth it.

Quilling is also known as "paper rolling", as this method involves twisting long, thin strips of paper. It is worth noting that having decided to do such an application, you will definitely need to choose a scheme, otherwise, trying to improvise, you can get confused. And how to make flowers using the quilling technique, we will try to describe in detail and in an accessible way in this article.

DIY quilling flowers: step by step instructions

Before starting work, it is necessary to prepare tools and materials: thick double-sided paper, scissors, PVA glue, pencil, ruler, compasses, awl. As for paper, it can be of different textures and shades. The composition of mother-of-pearl, matte, shiny paper will look most advantageous. The application can be flat or voluminous, it all depends on the idea of the master.

Quilling paper flowers are made as follows:

1. The cut strips are twisted into spirals. For this purpose, you can use an awl or a thin rod.

2. Spirals are pressed or pressed into the desired shape.

3. After that, the parts are glued together and fixed to the base.

There are many options for how to make quilling flowers. Each of them will require a diagram that includes the outline of the picture and the elements themselves that fill it. For beginners, it will be a difficult task to arrange the shapes within the outline of the drawing, so it is better to gain experience on simple compositions and patterns. It is recommended to use step-by-step instructions and detailed diagrams, which indicate how many elements need to be prepared for work, as well as their sizes. All parts are prepared in advance, after which, based on the scheme, they are assembled and fixed to the base. It's like design.

After mastering the simplest steps, most people who are carried away by the technique and understand its essence begin to work with more complex compositions, but without relying on the scheme, using only their spatial imagination.

Anyone who first decided to start creating compositions is recommended to watch master classes on the topic “Quilling Flowers for Beginners”:

Master classes, first of all, are worth watching for beginners, because how to make flowers using the quilling technique is explained step by step:

Spiral making. The most important thing in this work is to learn how to make spirals, as this is the key to a neat, beautiful application.

To make spirals for the pattern, you need to cut strips of paper of the desired thickness. Before you start winding it on the tool, it is recommended to run a ruler or fingernail along it, after which the strip will bend and become more obedient.

Now it can be wound on a tool (awl, toothpick, etc.). Work should be done very carefully, holding the strip with a slight tightness. After it is completely wound on the instrument, it is better to leave it in this form for a few minutes so that the shape is preserved. Then the resulting spiral is removed from the tool.

Creating a fringe for flowers. Making a fringe is not difficult, but for this you need to try and spend some time.

For manufacturing, you need a strip 1.5 cm wide. With the help of scissors, you need to make numerous cuts on it, which will fluff up and help you get voluminous petals.

Easy Ways to Create Flowers

Even the simplest quilling flowers look original and very beautiful.

How to create a small masterpiece is detailed below:

1 option.

The first step is to make the petals. To do this, prepare two thin strips (10 mm wide) of different shades and glue them together. Since there will be 10 petals in the flower, 10 such strips must be made.

Roll each two-color strip into a spiral with a diameter of 2 cm, then squeeze it hard to give it the shape of an eye.

To give the petal an unusual shape, you need to twist one end of it with a thin, sharp object (awl, toothpicks). The petal is ready. Do this work with the remaining 19 petals.

At the second stage, the core of the flower is made. Two strips of different colors are fastened together, for example, yellow and green. The resulting strip is twisted into a spiral and glued over the edge. The finished core is glued to the cardboard base, and 10 petals are glued around it.

You can make several of these flowers and use them to decorate a postcard, photo frame or something else, you just have to show your imagination.

Option 2.

The most simple and beautiful quilling flowers are, perhaps, roses. Even a person with no experience in this art can make them.

First, a spiral with 5 curls is drawn on a dense sheet of the desired shade. Then, along the line of curls, the spiral is cut out.

Using a special tool with a metal rod and a slot, designed to perform this technique, the resulting spiral strip is twisted into a bud, the edges are fastened with glue.

Having made several of these buds, you can create a charming composition.

3 option.

From paper strips of red or pink color, you will need to form 5 spirals with a diameter of 3 cm, glue them together, and then form 5 more spirals of a smaller size, with a diameter of 1.5 - 2 cm.

Smaller modules are glued on top of the larger ones, thus, a bud is obtained. To create an integral composition, it is necessary to make a stem and petals.

To properly arrange the stem, you need to fold a long strip of green color like an accordion, fix the bend points for 1 minute with pins.

After this time, the pins can be removed, the stem attached to the base.

They make the stem in another way:

1. A strip of paper is folded into a V-shape, and its edges are twisted into a thin spiral.

2. All parts are attached to the base with PVA glue.

Below are photos of interesting works with the manufacture of flowers using the quilling technique:

Bulk flowers. Chamomile, sunflower

Volumetric flowers using the quilling technique are very beautiful, interesting, bewitching. They are used both for decorating postcards and for decorating some decor elements.

Chamomile.

We propose to create a chamomile using this method. To do this, you need white, yellow and green paper, as well as a standard set of tools. The width of each strip of paper should be 3 cm. The strips are wound on an awl, toothpick or special tool.

The resulting roll is removed from the tool and slightly loosened (it should not be tight). To give the petal an oval shape, pinch it slightly, but only on one side.

This will form a droplet. The edge of the strip is fastened with glue. You will need a lot of such droplet petals, the more there are, the more magnificent the flower will turn out.

Now you need to make the core of the flower from yellow paper. On a yellow strip, frequent cuts are made from one edge, so a fringe is obtained. After that, the strip is folded into a spiral. Petals are attached to the back.

The stem is recommended to be made of corrugated paper, which must be carefully wound on the wire in an even layer, so that there are no gaps. Attach a flower to the end of the wire. The finished chamomile should be glued to the base, resulting in a three-dimensional composition.

Sunflower.

Do-it-yourself quilling flowers can be very different, but the sunflower looks bright, expressive and very impressive.

To work, you will need quilling tools, yellow, black and green paper, PVA glue, floral tape, pins, cardboard, circle templates, wire, ruler.

At the first stage, petals are made, which should be 2 rows in a medium-sized sunflower, 15 pieces in each row. If the flowers are planned large, then there will be more petals.

Petals are made from a sixty-centimeter strip of yellow paper. The strips are wound on a tool or a toothpick. Ready rolls are unrolled to a diameter of about 3 cm, measuring with a ruler. The edges of the rolls are treated with glue and fixed. After that, you need to give the roll the shape of a drop, as described above. Then you should pinch one edge of the petal with your finger and move the middle of the roll to the opposite edge. Pins and glue will help secure the rolls. Now you need to make a few more of these petals.

At the second stage, a sunflower core with a diameter of 2–3 cm is made. This will require black colored paper and several miniature rolls of black thin strips. Each such roll is a sunflower seed. The seeds should be cone-shaped, so using a sharp tool, you need to slightly squeeze out the middle of the roll. The resulting parts are glued to the core until it is completely filled with such seeds.

In the third step, the stem is created. For its manufacture, a soft thin wire is taken and divided into 3 segments 15–20 cm long. All segments are wrapped at a slight angle with floral tape. If not, colored paper will do.

The fourth stage is the assembly of flowers. First you need to prepare a funnel from green cardboard by cutting out a circle with a diameter of 3 - 4 cm. Make an incision on it from edge to middle. Treat the edges of the incision with glue and connect together to form a funnel. A stem is attached to the back of the funnel, to its sharp corner. The first row of petals is glued to the edges of the funnel, then the core and the second row of petals are attached.

We must not forget about the leaves of this amazing flower. They are made from double-sided green paper, giving the desired shape. Notches are cut along the edges of the leaves. On the sheet itself, you can draw veins with a felt-tip pen, so the plate will look natural. It is enough to prepare 5 - 6 sheets of different sizes. At the end of the work, glue them to the stem. Having made 3 - 5 of these sunflowers, you can get a picture of flowers using the quilling technique. One has only to glue them to the base and insert them into a photo frame of a suitable format. As a basis, both cardboard and any other thick paper are suitable.

You can make voluminous flowers using the quilling technique, based on a master class that describes in detail the process of creating real paper masterpieces:

What different flowers

Since the paper for this work can be used in a variety of ways, from ordinary color to shiny, the scope for imagination is unlimited. You can make a bouquet of flowers using the quilling technique by combining 3, 5 or more copies in it.

Such an application will be a wonderful decorative addition to any room and will delight the eye with its beauty every day.

Quilling is a technique for creating three-dimensional compositions using modules made from twisted pieces of paper. The term comes from the English word quill - "bird feather". Quilling for children is a great way to develop artistic abilities, fine motor skills, perseverance and diligence. This is the perfect art form for preschoolers as it is safe and easy to learn. Quilling classes for children are practiced in many institutions by a group, but parents are quite able to teach the little creator this technique at home.

Quilling master class for beginners 4-5 years old

It is permissible to start learning to work in the quilling technique for children already at the age of 4-5 years. Under the strict guidance of their parents, kids can create simple applications, postcards and other crafts that will be a good gift or interior decoration. To create the simplest flower arrangement with your child, get the following items:

    double-sided colored paper;

    PVA glue or pencil;

  • thin stick;

    basis for the picture;

    tassel

The execution process includes the following steps:

    With a thin stick, colored paper is first twisted into half a sheet of paper and glued, then to the end and glued again.

    The tubes are cut across in narrow strips so that the finished elements resemble petals and leaves.

    We are preparing the basis for work. For these purposes, dense colored cardboard is perfect.

    On the basis we make a sketch of the composition.

    Then the child himself chooses the elements for work, laying them out on the basis without glue.

    After making sure that the composition looks harmonious, we “plant” the modules on glue.

Glade of flowers

The following instruction will teach you and your child how to use the quilling technique to create a composition in the form of a meadow of flowers. This is a simple job, and you can even teach it to a kid at the age of 3-4 years. To do this, you will need the following tools:

    colored paper;

    material for the base (dense green cardboard is perfect);

    felt-tip pens or pencils;

    PVA glue;

  • tube or round pencil.

Here is a rough plan for creating beauty with your own hands:

    We start preparing the modules by cutting colored paper into strips 5-7 mm wide.

    We wind the strips on a pencil, felt-tip pen or tube.

    We give the required size to the resulting spirals.

    We prepare the required number of multi-colored modules according to the planned plot.

    We lay out the elements in the form of stems, petals and leaves on the base.

    Attach the modules carefully.

    You can draw some details or perform using the usual appliqué technique.

autumn composition

Autumn is a time of riot of colors that can inspire little creators to create real masterpieces with their own hands. Let's try to create a picturesque autumn composition using the quilling technique for children. Standard tool kit:

    colored paper (preferably yellow, red, green shades);

    vase stencil;

    simple pencil;

    PVA glue;

  • toothpick.

A simple execution scheme will help you with your baby at work:

Step-by-step instructions for crafts for children 6-7 years old

For kids aged 6-7 years, learning quilling will be interesting and have undoubted benefits. Let's try to collect a flower together with the child. For the lesson you will need:

    double-sided colored paper of two types - green and orange;

    tubes for a cocktail;

  • PVA glue;

    stationery knife;

Preparation of modules is the most important stage. It is performed as follows:

    Using scissors, the paper is cut into strips about 50 mm wide.

    With the help of an awl, the strips are twisted into tight coils, the ends of which are fixed with glue.

    The center of the coil is pressed with a toothpick, as a result of which it should take the shape of a cone.

Please note that each cone must be the same length. Make sure that the child performs all the simplest actions without your help. When all the modules are ready, we proceed to assemble the finished composition:

    It is necessary to glue the cones together so that it looks like a sphere.

    Leave a small hole for the stem of the flower.

    Cut off a strip of green paper about 1.5-2 cm thick.

    We glue the straw with green paper in a spiral.

    We cut a strip of green paper 5 cm thick with a fringe and glue it in a spiral way.

    We connect the flower with the stem with PVA glue.

Butterfly in quilling technique

We offer you a step-by-step description of creating a butterfly using the quilling technique. Making such a craft is more difficult than a standard appliqué, but the work itself can be used not only as an ornament, but also as a toy. For the manufacture we need:

    colored paper;

    a set of sewing needles;

    board for work;

  • PVA glue;

    glue brush.

Let's start by going through the scheme gradually, step by step:

    We make wings: we cut three strips of paper of different lengths, be sure to choose matching shades.

    We glue the strips from short to long.

    We twist them so that the shortest one is inside.

    We glue the free end from the outside.

    We insert the circles into the cuts of the quilling board and unwind.

    With sewing needles, press the center of the circle to one side, glue the strips in this place.

    We make the body: we twist two circles, form cones, which we glue together.

    We connect all the elements, complementing the composition with antennae made of thin strips twisted in a spiral

Snowflake

Using the skill of forming modular compositions with twisted paper, you can create incredibly beautiful snowflakes. They will be the perfect decoration for your home this Christmas. Consider the instructions for creating a snowflake using this technique. For this you will need:

    white paper (ordinary office paper will do);

    PVA glue;

    toothpick;

  • thin brush for glue.

The implementation of this craft is difficult, the work will require the participation of an adult:

    Cut paper into thin strips.

    We twist them with a toothpick.

    Slightly dissolve the resulting ring to obtain the desired diameter.

    Glue the free outer tip.

    We clamp the ring on opposite sides.

    We prepare 12 similar elements and glue them together in the shape of a flower.

    We twist the strips into tight rings and fix with glue.

    Glue the rings between the snowflake petals.

    We make 6 paper curls and glue two at a time to the distance between the petals through one.

    Glue a simple tight ring in the center of the snowflake.

rowan branch

A rowan branch is a simple and effective composition that you can fix on a standard sheet of cardboard or a beautiful openwork napkin. For manufacturing you will need:

    double-sided colored paper in black, green and red or terracotta;

    the basis for the composition (colored cardboard, openwork paper napkin, etc.);

    toothpick;

Let's start by laying everything out on the table in a convenient order:

    We make berries: cut red or terracotta paper into thin strips and twist with a toothpick into tight rings, fix the ends with glue.

    We make leaves: we twist rings from green stripes, squeeze from two edges, giving the shape of a leaf.

    We cut out a branch of the desired thickness from dark paper and glue it to the base.

    We place the modules in the form of leaves along the branch.

    At the end of the branch we place berries in the form of a lush bunch.
