An important condition for a proper and even tan is the hydration and nutrition of the epidermis, which will provide decorative cosmetics- solarium cream It will protect the skin from the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays, the tan will last longer, its color will be richer. This article will discuss the principle of the cream, its composition, types, selection criteria and give customer reviews. All this information will help right choice bronzer.

What is tanning cream

cosmetic, used before a tanning session in a solarium, is called a tanning cream. It includes different groups of substances, the main task of which is to protect the skin from drying out and give it an even bronze tint. During a stay in a solarium, a lot of moisture evaporates from the surface of the skin, if you do not use at least a regular oily cream, the skin can dry out and begin to peel off.

Compound

Tanning creams are different from simple moisturizing products and sun tanning products. It contains special substances that do not block the access of UV rays to the body, and does not contain substances that have a whitening effect, so that the tan falls faster. The following groups of substances can be found in the composition of tanning cosmetics:

  • Bronzers are natural tanning activators (carotene, walnut, henna). They increase the rate of production of melanin by the body, and melanin is a natural pigment, the amount of which in the body determines the color of hair, eyes and skin tone. The more it is, the darker the shade. Depending on the number of accelerators (one, three, five), the degree of tanning intensity is determined.
  • Formic, or methanoic acid - helps to expand the capillaries, increases blood flow to the upper layer of the epidermis, which accelerates the production of melanin. Sometimes artificially created tingles are used instead.
  • Mint extract, menthol - has a calming effect.
  • Grape seed oil - for moisturizing.
  • Olive, sandalwood and shea butter will protect against allergies, redness, which are often observed in women with sensitive skin.
  • Hemp oil - increases the sensitivity of the body to the perception of ultraviolet radiation, helps to absorb nutrients, vitamins and other substances.
  • The complex, which includes tea tree oil, olive oil, panthenol, is called biosin. It gently cares for the skin, relieves irritation.
  • Coenzyme Q10, Celltox, Ederline-L, PureLift, M.A.P. peptides, SOD - make the skin more elastic and elastic, moisturize, soften, prevent aging processes.

How it works

The main direction of the action of the tanning cream is to stimulate the production of its own melanin by the epidermis, which gives its entire surface a beautiful bronze tint. This stimulation can occur through the action of natural components (carotene, walnut or henna) on the surface of the skin or through the activation of internal processes, with the help of formic acid. After applying creams with such an acid in the composition, tingling, redness is felt. This means that blood circulation has increased, and the production of melanin is faster.

Types of solarium cream

Depending on the type of skin, a cream is also selected in order to achieve the maximum effect from going to the solarium and at the same time not harm yourself. The main types of solarium products are as follows:

  • With bronzers - they include elements that emphasize an existing shade, helping to get a darker color. Their average duration is a week, after which they go naturally, when taking a shower, soaking into the epidermis. The tan acquired with the use of a bronzer remains. Suitable for swarthy, tanned women.
  • With formic acid, or tingle effect - activates the movement of blood with the effect of tingling, tingling. Accelerated blood flow speeds up the process of melanin production, promotes rapid tanning. Not suitable for sensitive skin: may cause severe irritation.
  • With body blush effect. It will help in the shortest possible time for several procedures in the solarium to get a deep saturated shade. This happens due to the active saturation of skin cells with pure oxygen and an increase in blood circulation, which stimulates the production of melanin without a tingling sensation, as when using "ant" products. Suitable for sensitive skin.

  • The presence of moisturizing ingredients - they will help to avoid peeling, the swarthy shade will last longer. It can be oils, for example, from grape seeds or argan.
  • Ultraviolet provokes the appearance of wrinkles, so the epidermis needs a vitamin complex. Maintain elasticity Coenzyme Q10 in combination with other vitamins.
  • Do not forget about after-sun products - they will help maintain and consolidate the effect. Often, cosmetic companies have a comprehensive series of care products, which includes lotions before / after contact with UV rays, a separate facial product, sometimes a hair spray, lip balm.
  • The online store for solarium cosmetics often offers discounts, promotions for different groups of products that can be ordered immediately. Delivery in Moscow and St. Petersburg by mail is inexpensive, and the product itself does not differ from the one on the shelf in the store.
  • Video

    A visit to the solarium is a pleasant procedure, but quite responsible. If you approach it with due attention, you can get a beautiful and even tan at any time of the year without long lying on the beach. And tanning oil will help make it safer and easier.

    We are used to the fact that for a trip to the sea it is worth stocking up on special oil to protect the skin from harmful radiation and drying out. But such cosmetics are not suitable for a solarium.

    Many companies produce special means, which improve the quality of the tan, prolong its "life span", moisturize the skin and prevent drying out.

    Types of cosmetics for the sauna

    Most types of tanning oil have these or other properties:

    • Bronzer. It darkens the skin faster, but it only stains the top layer of the skin without really affecting the quality of the tan. But if you need to quickly get a tangible result, you can use it.
    • Tingle effect. These products contain in their composition substances that cause a rush of blood to the skin. This accelerates the oxidation process in the tissues, which enhances the tan. But it should not be used by people with thin, delicate and sensitive skin.
    • Tanning acceleration. Some substances increase the amount of melanin and the speed of tanning. One of the most effective is tyrosine.
    • Hydration. Perhaps the most important quality of any solarium cosmetics. First, UV rays can dry out the skin. Secondly, well-moisturized skin tans better and retains color longer. Overdried, it simply begins to peel off after visiting the solarium, reducing the effect of visiting it.

    You can often find cosmetics that combine several mechanisms of action. Which one to choose is a matter of taste and skin characteristics.

    What oil to take?

    Today, the range of special cosmetics is quite wide, and can even mislead even the most sophisticated. Therefore, it is worth figuring out what you can use and what you should not:

    • Special cosmetics. It is designed just for visiting the solarium and is designed to make this process safer and more efficient. She has only one drawback - she is very expensive, but of high quality.
    • Regular cosmetics for the beach. Many women find that they can bring their usual tanning oil left over from the summer to the tanning salon. But it is intended for a long stay in the summer sun, which is characterized by a completely different intensity and spectrum. If it has any degree of protection, it can significantly reduce the effectiveness of tanning.
    • cosmetic oils. Many use baby oil Johnson Baby for a solarium, but such savings can turn into a problem. The fragrances and additives contained in it under the influence of the rays of lamps can lead to skin burns, changes in pigmentation and other troubles.
    • Natural oils. The most budget option is the use of conventional vegetable oils. Persikova and grape seed, olive, avocado - they perfectly soften and moisturize the skin, while not containing substances potentially harmful to the skin.

    Apart from professional solarium cosmetics, it is the latter option that deserves the closest attention.

    DIY oils

    At home, from simple products, you can make quite effective, and most importantly, safe and inexpensive oils. So many people already use olive oil in the solarium, applying it both before and after the procedure. It has an excellent moisturizing effect, protects, softens and nourishes the skin.

    But you can make more complex schemes:

    • base oil. Banal olive oil is perfect, but it can be supplemented with peach, apricot and grape seed, avocado, shea, walnut, wheat germ and so on. Perfect for a solarium and coconut oil, which makes the tan more resistant.
    • Essential oils. About ten drops of essential oil per 100 grams of the base will enhance the effect. Especially if you pick it right. Peppermint, chamomile, ylang-ylang, rose, cypress, and so on are good oils. Categorically you can not use citrus fruits, cinnamon, cloves, cumin.
    • Additives. To protect the skin, you can add some vitamins A, B, E. The easiest way is to "get" them from liquid vitamins like "AEvit". One capsule per 100 grams of oil will be enough.

    As part of the standard scheme, you can try different combinations: 50% olive oil, 25% walnut oil, 25% avocado, 5 drops of mint oil, the same amount of chamomile, one AEvita capsule.

    Characteristics of solarium lamps

    Depending on the cabin design, modern solariums divided into 4 types:

    • Horizontal- the cabin is a bed with a cover, on which lamps are installed to evenly irradiate the human body from all sides;
    • Vertical- the cabin is similar to a shower room, only lamps are installed around its entire perimeter;
    • Solarium chair– an armchair in which it is possible to expose certain parts of the body to radiation, for example, the face, hands, neck, etc.;
    • Turbo solarium- equipped with a cooling system, as a result of which it works for hours without overheating. According to the type of construction, it can be both horizontal and vertical.
    The basis of the work of any solarium is lamps, which are divided into two types, depending on the type of ultraviolet rays they produce. Thus, fluorescent lamps produce mainly UVA rays, and a little UVB, and metal halide lamps produce only UVA rays. Accordingly, in solariums with fluorescent lamps you can "burn out", but not with metal halide ones.

    In solariums with metal halide lamps, people with all skin types can sunbathe, even very light and poorly tolerant to the sun. And in solariums with fluorescent lamps, not all people can sunbathe, but only those who normally tolerate the sun. For people with sensitive skin, the maximum allowable amount of UVB rays in which they can sunbathe in a tanning bed with fluorescent lamps is only 0.7%. Sun tolerant people can also tan in tanning beds with up to 2.4% UVB.

    The service life of fluorescent lamps is 500 - 600 hours, and metal halide - 800 hours. After the lamp has been used for this number of hours, it must be replaced, even if it is not broken and functioning, because its radiation becomes dangerous and may short time cause the development of skin cancer.

    The newer the lamp, that is, the fewer hours it has worked, the stronger its radiation. Accordingly, in such solariums you need to take a minimum session. sunburn. In addition, the duration of the session should also be reduced by 30-50% in solariums with a power of more than 160 kW and in those booths with more than 26 lamps.

    How to sunbathe in a solarium?

    In order to get a beautiful and even tan and not harm your health, you must observe the following rules for sunbathing in a solarium:
    1. Do not go to sessions daily, take a break between two episodes of insolation lasting 2-3 days.
    2. If the skin turns red after visiting the solarium, then the next session should be postponed for 7-10 days.
    3. The general course for getting a tan is 5-6 sessions in the solarium.
    4. To maintain the intensity of tanning, it is enough to visit the solarium once a week.
    5. Before you start sunbathing, ask and read the documentation for the cabin.
    6. Before starting the first tanning session, find the "stop" button, and immediately press it if you feel bad.
    7. Before turning on the solarium, you should protect your hair with a cap, your eyes with glasses, and the nipples of your breasts with stikini. Lip balm should be applied.
    8. Cover fresh wounds or abrasions with a plaster, as well as skin areas with spider veins.
    9. If desired, to enhance the effect of a solarium, use special cosmetics.
    10. During the day before and after a tanning session, you should wash only with shower gel or soap without a washcloth or scrub.
    11. Before going to the tanning bed, you should wash yourself to remove cosmetics and perfumes from the skin, which can cause stains after a tanning session.
    12. Always respect the length and frequency of tanning sessions.

    The optimal frequency and duration of solarium sessions depends on the skin type. Currently, people with different skin types are recommended to visit the solarium according to the following schemes:

    • Light eyes, red hair, very light skin that easily "burns out" and turns red sharply - you can't sunbathe in a solarium even for a few minutes.
    • Blond hair, blond or Brown eyes, white skin that tans a little, but often "burns out" - the first session in the solarium is 3 - 5 minutes. Then you can spend another 4 - 5 sessions with an interval between them of 2 days, each subsequent time increasing the time spent in the solarium by 1 minute.
    • Dark eyes, dark blond or brown hair, light skin that tans well and sometimes "burns out" - the first session in the solarium is 5 minutes. Then another 4-5 sessions are carried out with an interval between them of 2 days, lasting 10-12 minutes each.
    • Brown eyes, dark hair, swarthy skin that tans well and almost never "burns out" - the first session in the solarium is 7 - 10 minutes. Then another 4-5 sessions are carried out with an interval between them of 2 days, lasting 12-15 minutes each.

    How to sunbathe in a solarium for the first time?

    The rules for tanning in a solarium for the first time are the same as in general. But in addition, you need to carefully monitor your subsequent state, fixing all the changes that occur, so that, if necessary, you can adjust the tanning program, making it as harmless as possible.

    How to sunbathe in a vertical and horizontal solarium

    There are no specific rules on how to sunbathe in vertical and horizontal solariums. All rules are the same for any type of solarium.

    In the article we talk about coconut oil for tanning in the sun and in the solarium, as well as how to apply it correctly. You will find out if coconut oil is effective for sunbathing.

    On the shelves of shops there are two types of coconut oil - cold and hot pressing.

    In the first case, due to the gentle processing technology of fresh dry coconut pulp, the maximum amount of useful substances is preserved in oil, although both products are used for tanning.

    The unrefined cold-pressed oil contains many substances useful for the skin, the basis is acids - lauric and myristic. They nourish the skin, reduce moisture loss and reduce the risk of sunburn.

    Cosmetologists recommend using coconut oil to owners of dry skin, because the dense consistency of the product moisturizes the top layer of the epidermis well. The oil also helps protect the skin from the negative effects of external factors.

    For delicate skin prone to allergies, it is better to choose refined oil - a liquid product of a straw-honey hue, odorless.

    Both types of oil are quickly absorbed and do not leave greasy marks on clothes.

    Use coconut oil for tanning to:

    • protect the skin from the negative effects of ultraviolet radiation;
    • prevent sunburn, dryness, redness, peeling;
    • slow down the withering and aging of the skin with the help of the antioxidant contained in the oil - vitamin E;
    • get a luxurious tan of a pleasant chocolate shade.

    How to properly apply coconut oil

    The oil is applied both a few hours before sunbathing, and 10-15 minutes before.

    When heading to the beach or to a beauty salon, follow your standard tanning routine - thoroughly cleanse your skin in the shower with an exfoliating and smoothing scrub, then apply a generous amount of oil to wet skin, spreading it in a circular motion all over the body.

    Just before applying the oil on the beach, do not forget to also degrease the face and oily areas of the body with lotion. Only then apply the product with light circular movements, avoiding the eye area.

    After sunburn, coconut oil is necessary to nourish dehydrated skin, relieve irritation, eliminate tightness, burning, and discomfort. Use it neat or mix it with panthenol in a 1:1 ratio.

    After returning home:

    • apply the product with smooth circular movements on the reddened areas of the skin;
    • take a cool shower (water temperature - no more than 25 degrees);
    • re-distribute portions of the refined product over the wet body;
    • dress in loose clothing made from natural fabrics.

    The skin will fully recover after 3-4 days of resuscitation procedures.

    Coconut oil for sun tanning

    Lovers of soaking up the sun do not deny themselves the pleasure of applying to the skin natural remedy, which has an SPF-8 protection level.

    The skin becomes velvety, firmer and softer, so the tan goes on evenly and acquires a beautiful shade.

    But remember that the required level of SPF protection is at least 25, so supplement coconut oil with tanning lotions, especially if you are a natural blonde with thin and fair skin.

    • apply the oil indoors to avoid sand or dust sticking to the skin;
    • in the morning, take a contrast shower and moisturize the body with a plentiful portion of oil;
    • before going to the beach, repeat the procedure to protect the skin in the sun or while swimming in sea water.

    Coconut oil for tanning in the solarium

    In the solarium, the concentration of ultraviolet radiation is higher than in the sun, so before visiting the tanning studio, prepare a mixture of your favorite protective cream and coconut oil in a 3:1 ratio. Before the session, rub the mixture evenly over the entire body.

    Do not forget:

    • prepare the skin for the solarium - take a shower and apply oil;
    • if the procedure time is more than 10 minutes, then 40-60 minutes after it, moisturize the skin with oil again;
    • do not visit the shower within 2-3 hours after the session.

    Contraindications and principles for choosing the type of coconut oil for tanning

    There are only three circumstances that prevent the use of a natural remedy:

    • individual intolerance;
    • there are many pimples and rashes on the skin;
    • severe allergy to essential oils and Thai balms based on coconut oil.

    Choose coconut oil according to your skin type:

    • if the skin is excessively oily, prone to frequent inflammation, give preference to oil not of the first extraction, but made using hot pressing technology;
    • refined oil is hypoallergenic, so it is suitable for all skin types, including very dry ones;
    • cold-pressed coconut oil is not recommended for normal or combination skin types (it is better to soften small areas with cracks or crust).

    Coconut oil for sunburn - reviews

    Svetlana, 28 years old

    I don't go on holiday without coconut oil! I use it during the holidays every day three times - a few hours before tanning, half an hour, and then after I return to the room. My friends are jealous of my bronzed tan and don't believe that the secret weapon is ordinary coconut oil.

    Elena, 34 years old

    Coconut oil rescued me dozens of times. I remember once at the dacha I fell asleep in a hammock. The sun turned around, and in the end I am a red tomato. The skin is hot, it hurts to touch. I smeared myself not only with after-sun lotion, but also with coconut oil, and in just 10 minutes I felt relief. As a result, not only could I fall asleep calmly, but even the skin did not peel off.

    before and after photo with coconut oil

    The photo clearly shows how the skin looks before and after sunburn for those who use coconut oil. Try it too!

    What to remember

    1. Coconut oil is a versatile natural remedy that's perfect for protecting skin before sunbathing and post-sun recovery.
    2. Choose the type of oil according to your skin type.
    3. Cleanse your skin before applying the oil.
    4. Use pure oil or supplement it with protective products with the required level of UV protection.
    5. Make sure that you have no contraindications for using coconut oil.

    Rule one. Don't forget a cotton hat or scarf to protect your hair. Sun dried hair loses its luster, fades and becomes brittle.

    Rule two. Grab dark sunglasses. Don't rely on your eyes to close. Covered eyelids are too unreliable protection from strong ultraviolet rays.

    Rule three. Before tanning, treat the skin with a special oil or sunscreen. Indeed, in a solarium, out of habit, you can get burned, as at noon on the ocean coast. Dark-skinned women with a dense skin structure can apply the cream in a thin layer, pale-skinned and those whose skin is thin, you should lubricate the body more abundantly. Sun creams reduce exposure to radiation, and the tan becomes softer and more even. Creams should be applied immediately before the procedure.

    Rule four. Do not disregard the face, especially if the skin is prone to "burning". Wipe the face well with a moisturizing alcohol-free lotion. It is strictly forbidden to use a nourishing cream for tanning in a solarium, and even more so a cream that contains hormones.

    Rule five. Before a solarium, it is advisable not to wash with soap, as soap foam destroys the acidic layer, deprives the skin of fatty lubrication. This increases the risk of burns. Ideally, you should wash thoroughly with soap and water one and a half to two hours before the procedure, or, if you wash immediately before the procedure, replace the soap with a more gentle liquid foam.

    Rule six. Make-up must not be applied to the face before visiting the solarium. Eliminate even lipstick. Do not use perfumes, deodorants, aromatic oils.

    Rule seven. Be careful when choosing the type of solarium. A solarium, like the sun, is tolerated differently by everyone. For many, staying in a solarium is a special pleasure. Some feel weak and dizzy. The first is preferable to use a turbo solarium, where the procedure is performed while standing and the beam of rays simultaneously hits the entire surface of the body, the sun "hugging" you from all sides. For physically weaker women, it is better to take ultraviolet baths lying down, in a horizontal position, when you can relax and unwind.

    Rule eight. Be careful when taking medication before tanning. Better consult with your doctor. After all, certain drugs increase the photosensitivity of the skin and can provoke a solar allergy.

    Rule nine. Women who have crossed the threshold of thirty years should be in a solarium in a bra and panties. Exposing tender areas to direct radiation is not worth it.

    Rule ten. Solarium, of course, is relaxation, but it causes the active work of many body functions, so after the procedure you should sit and relax. You can drink a cup of herbal fortified tea or juice rich in vitamin C. Immediately after the solarium, you should not get up under a cold shower.

    Up
