Materials for creating a camouflage suit "Kikimora"

So, when considering how to make a Kikimora camouflage coat with your own hands, you need to determine what material the costume will be made of. You can take a fishing net measuring 1.5 by 3-4 meters. The cell size in this case should be 1-2.5 cm. The color of the mesh used does not matter, because camouflage will be “laid” on top of it.

Next, you need jute thread, which is used in ordinary bags. You can purchase a spool of such a thread, but it is advisable to use 6-7 bags. Experts from this field advise choosing the second option, since the thread from the bag is softer, more elastic, thinner.

The third thing you need is dyes. Their selection is a very responsible matter. The dye must be taken such that it is suitable for cotton and synthetic fabrics. There should be several colors and shades: 2-3 shades of green, black, brown, olive, yellow.

You will also need a length of 100 meters and a thickness of 1 mm. You need to purchase one skein. The color should be within white, brown or black shades. This thread is necessary for joining parts. You can't do without a nylon cord 25 meters long and 3-4 mm thick. It is necessary to strengthen the edges of clothing and create ties.

Creation of Kikimora's camouflage robe

So, all materials are ready. For an example, a process will be shown here that allows you to create a camouflage coat with your own hands in the form of a hoodie jacket.

You need to prepare patterns for the back, front, hood and sleeves. The front and back are made in the form of two identical parts. Their shape should be rectangular. Width - within 1 meter, length - from shoulder to knee. These parts are sewn in such a way as to leave a hole for the head.

Since camouflage coats for hunting are not complete without sleeves, you need to prepare two rectangular parts. The length of the patterns should be within 60-70 cm. The width should be 40 cm. The sleeve should be spacious enough, since the camouflage coat, created by oneself, is worn over other clothes.

The hood is created from 4 parts. You will need to cut 4 elements:

• detail No. 1 - 20 x 20 cm;
• details No. 2-4 - 20 x 40 cm.

In principle, the hoodie is ready. It remains to “decorate” it with colored threads.

Dyeing threads and fixing them on camouflage

First you need to dye small sections of the threads to make sure the color is obtained. With this color, you need to paint 2-3 skeins obtained from bags; kapron thread and cord; details of a tailored suit.

After staining, everything must be rinsed and dried. This process takes about a day. It is better to dry the threads from the bags away from sources of fire and direct sunlight.

After drying, you need to make bundles of 4-5 threads. They need to be folded in half and spread out for convenient work. When creating the so-called “lohma”, it must be taken into account that one thread should be about 40-55 cm long. The threads folded in half can form a blurry silhouette of the shooter.

To make a camouflage coat with your own hands, you need to properly fix the prepared bundles. The first method is called "chess cage". The essence of the method is that you must first fix the threads with the base color in a checkerboard pattern. Then bundles with additional shades are fixed.

The second method involves fixing the “lokhma” of all the shades at once that form the camouflage. You need to interweave according to the following scheme.

It is worth considering that you need to weave the threads from the bottom up.

The dangers that lie in wait on the hunt

Camouflage clothing, no matter how well it works in hunting, can add its own fly in the ointment. A man dressed in a camouflage coat, whose photo can be seen in the article, will be hidden from animals and birds, as well as from his neighbors. Therefore, there is an unspoken rule: it is forbidden to shoot at a blurred target, at sound or movement, in darkness or twilight.

An experienced hunter in camouflage can disguise himself so that he is neither heard nor seen. And newcomers can be seen a mile away. Therefore, the former are at a disadvantage. Disguised, the hunter must keep an eye on the game and what is happening around. If stuffed animals are placed, then other hunters can take them for game and shoot towards the hidden person. Therefore, maximum vigilance must be exercised.

So, the costume is ready. It's time to go hunting. The main thing is caution.

In mythology, one can find an ambiguous description of this evil spirit. Now this is a night deity of restless disturbing dreams, then the spirit of a child who died unbaptized or was cursed by his parents, then a little woman - all this is considered a kind of house spirits.

But for some reason, probably thanks to cinema and the adaptation of fairy tales, Kikimora became a swamp, a friend of the goblin and the water, and more in our minds it appears as a swamp spirit, a kind of devil with an unpleasant face, an untidy, twisted, ugly old woman, with sticking out disheveled hair, sloppy and dressed in rags. Here is the costume Kikimora marsh I will do.

Hair

Highly important detail of this costume, and maybe even the main one - this hair. They had to tinker with, but the result was worth it.

So, kikimora hair should be unkempt, shaggy, sloppy, slightly green with mud (Kikimora is from the swamp). Those green wigs that are sold everywhere do not fit this description. They are very silky and do not look natural. Such a wig is more likely to suit a doll, but not Kikimore.

Therefore, the most suitable material that I found for a wig is sanitary flax.

Natural fiber, easy to dye and can be easily found in the construction market, in hardware stores or in plumbing stores. It is not expensive. One disadvantage is bad smell. But this smell almost disappears after painting. For a suit, I had enough of such a twist of four twisted strands.

I dyed three strands in green colors one just boiled in clean water with the addition vinegar about 10 minutes and rinsed well, adding Lenore.

I think it's good for painting any dyes- dyes for wool, for cotton fabrics (aniline dyes). But it can be seen that the demand for these dyes is not high, since I have not found such dyes in the nearest stores, where they used to be for sure. Therefore, I took advantage food coloring, which are used for dyeing Easter eggs.

We take the worst pot, pour 1-1.5 liters of water, dissolve the paint and immerse three strands in the solution.

Bring to a boil and add 4-5 tablespoons of 9% table vinegar.

Boil, stirring gently, 20-30 minutes. At this time, the kitchen is necessary strongly ventilated b or enable hood, because, if you have not forgotten (I warned at the very beginning), the smell is still the same.

I want to pay attention to the form in which to dye the strands of flax.

If they are left twisted, then the colored strands will be unevenly dyed. If the strands are straightened, the fibers will be very tangled, and it will be harder to work with them in the future. I painted twisted strands, and the resulting uneven coloring, in my opinion, is even more interesting:

After the strands boil, it is better to leave them in a solution with paint until cool, and then rinse well. In the last rinse, I added Lenore. Drying on the floor near the battery on the newspaper. Within a day they were completely dry. The dry dyed strands look a little sticky, but don't let that scare you.

I decided not to make a wig, but braces. Firstly, it’s faster, and secondly, my daughter has her own long blonde hair, and when mixed with green flax fibers, a very interesting look is obtained.

To make overlays, it is necessary to stretch a thick thread, for example, between the legs of a chair.

We separate the thin strands of flax from the main strand and fix it on the thread in this way:

we fold a strand of flax in half and start it by a thread.

We drag the entire strand into the loop formed.

We try to tighten the knot as much as possible.

We continue to fasten the strands until the overlay reaches a length twice as large as the hairpin on which this strand will be attached. To make the strand fluffy, you will need to fold it in half, so the width of the finished strand should be twice the length of the hairpin.

To attach the strands, you will need tight hairpins and a glue gun.

Hairpins must be selected very carefully, choose the tightest so that they do not slip from the hair.

I chose these. The bows just tore off.

We cut the prepared strand from the thread, leaving small ends. We connect these ends with a simple double knot.

Using a glue gun, glue the strand to the hairpin.

I made only six such strands and one short for bangs.

I attached the strand for the bangs to another hairpin, which is more invisible on the head.

To make the hairpins on the false strands invisible, we hide them under real strands of hair.

We comb real hair and mix it with false strands of linen.

If the child has short hair or it does not match at all in color and structure to this image, then you can sew a wig.

Wig can be done by analogy with cheap masquerade wigs: sew a cap from the net, and attach strands of linen to the net. They can be sewn or tied. You can attach it in the way that I will use below when making the cape.

To understand the principle, consider such a wig.

The wig consists of a cap made of mesh. An elastic band is sewn along the bottom.

How to sew a dress

I sewed a dress according to a pattern from a magazine "Burda" No. 10 for 2003 model 151. The magazine in pdf format in the archive can be downloaded.

I lengthened the shelf and back to the desired size.

We grind all the details, process the seams. We hem the bottom of the sleeves and the dress with a Moscow seam.

I trimmed the neckline with bias tape and sewed on a button.

This is how the dress turned out.

If you sew such a dress from coarse linen or burlap, then you could not sew a cape. But our dress is very elegant for Kikimora. Therefore, we sew a cape.

How to sew a cape

I made the cape from mesh. For the basis of the cape pattern, I used the same model 151 from the magazine "Burda" No. 10 for 2003. Let's just change the pattern a little. To make the cape easier to put on, we make a lowered shoulder and lower the armhole.

We make changes to the front pattern. Now we have one-piece and slightly flared to the bottom. Lower the shoulder line and lower the armhole. I took the dimensions "by eye". The green outline is the main pattern, the purple outline is the changes made.

We also make changes to the pattern of the back.

Customize the shape of the sleeve pattern.

We cut out the details and grind them. I did not finish seam allowances or open edges. Only the neck was processed with an oblique inlay. There are some nuances here. Since there are rather large cells on the grid, we sew the inlay not along the very edge, as usual, but deeper. So you can be sure that we will capture the entire mesh, and it will not come out from under the inlay anywhere.

Now we cut off the excess, focusing on the fold line in the center of the inlay.

We bend the inlay and stitch it to the edge.

The trim needs to be cut a little longer than the hem of the neck to make enough for the loop. We form a loop and sew on a button.

Now we fasten “bog mud”, or rather, all the same strands of flax onto the grid. To do this, we separate a small strand, fold it in half and stretch it with a hook into the mesh cell.

We stretch the ends of the strands into the loop formed.

And we tighten the knot.

Thus, we fix the remaining strands, evenly distributing them along the bottom of the cape and sleeves.

Choose the frequency of fastening strands yourself.

Carnival parties have become very popular lately. Even if you do not recognize overseas new-fangled holidays, then there remain the good old New Year's masquerades or even just birthdays that you want to have fun celebrating in beautiful costumes. Moreover, this is true for both children and adults.

If you want to make some special image, think of mythical or fairy-tale characters, for example, Lesh. It is not difficult to sew or make a Leshy costume with your own hands, but you will need both imagination and skill. Then your creation will definitely amaze everyone around you and will be remembered for its originality and unusualness.

What does the image of the forest owner consist of?

Goblin is a famous character in folk tales. To do it yourself carnival costume Goblin, you need to study the nature and character traits of this character. So you can more successfully get into the image.

We can say that Leshy is the master of the forest or the forest wizard. He is not evil, like Baba Yaga or Kikimora, because he helps good travelers: he takes them to the road if they get lost, treats them with his gifts - berries, mushrooms, and leads forest predatory animals or snakes. However, if people come to him (in the forest) with malicious intent and spoil his possessions, Leshy can scare them or lead them into the thicket.

In different fairy tales and stories, the Leshy looks different: either he is small, like a gnome, an old man-forester, or a giant, as huge as a tree. He is dressed rather absurdly, but thoughtfully. The Goblin costume includes the following mandatory elements:

• bast shoes;
• pants in patches;
• sideways hat;
• gloves or semi-gloves;
• hoodie.

To sew a Leshy costume, you will need fabric in brown, green and gray, khaki. It is also worth using faux fur for decoration (will denote moss), mesh, twine. Significant details will not be superfluous: tree branches, cones, leaves, buttons in the form of insects, forest flowers, berries or fruits.

A few ideas for creating an image

Basically, Leshy's carnival costume is more suitable for a child. If one of the adults wants to make such a fabulous and unusual image for himself, then he can use the same ideas. However, sometimes Leshy may appear on Halloween in a real camouflage suit with a camouflage net.

For a child, you can sew with your own hands, both a simple and uncomplicated outfit, and a very thoughtful, original goblin costume.

1. The most primitive option would be to combine ordinary shirts (you can even use a blouse) and khaki or gray-green pants (breeches). Try decorating your pants with patches and fringing everything in soft bulky fabric.
2. Cut many wide and narrow strips of fabric and sew them in different parts of the sweater: in the middle, along the edges and at the top (preferably at an angle). Sew small pieces in tufts on the edges of the cuffs on the sleeves and on the shoulders. The pants are trimmed with fringes at the bottom.
3. You can also use a mesh to decorate individual details of clothing.
4. Do not forget about rain or sparkles to make your Goblin look festive.

You can also sew a carnival outfit with a hoodie. Pants are made in the same way. But the hoodie will have to be cut out.

1. The pattern itself is very simple. You will need to make four rectangles of different sizes: a back, two sleeves and a shelf. The back is better to cut a little longer than the front.
2. Goblin is not a character from high society, and this gives some advantages in sewing with your own hands: you can not process the bottom of the product and the neck, it will be beautiful if you even wave them a lot.
3. It’s also good to make a fringe directly on the fabric of the hoodie, that is, cut it along the bottom of the sleeves and the product itself.
4. If you have a long beautiful twine, you can sheathe the neck (make large stitches over the edge).
5. Pieces of fur sewn in different places of the hoodie will look colorful - on the back, shoulders, chest.
6. Leaves, tree branches and other forest paraphernalia can be made from felt fabric or you can buy and sew ready-made appliqués.
7. From faux fur or velvet, sew a belt to tie a shirt or hoodie.

Additional parts and accessories

The carnival outfit is almost ready, but some more elements are needed to complete the image.

Goblin puts on shoes in bast shoes, but making them can be somewhat problematic, besides, think about the comfort of the child. There are several ways out of this situation.

1. You can sew overhead covers made of thick fabric that will be worn over ordinary shoes.
2. Paint ordinary thick socks under the bast shoes, sew ropes to them on the sides and put them on Czechs or slippers. They will need to tuck in trousers and tie ropes.
3. Decorate canvas sneakers of the appropriate color (green, brown, gray, khaki) with various forest decorations.
4. Cut strips of fabric and sew them onto rag slippers in the form of weaving bast shoes.

If the pants are long, then the socks do not play a role, and if the child wears breeches, add green or brown leggings / stockings to the image.

You can use a wig or just a headdress. It is easy to sew a hat from a piece of faux fur (fold it so that you get a cylinder and sew it, the top will need to be gathered with vertical seams, and you can make a fringe along the bottom). In the same way, the hat is made from ordinary soft tissue, and fur is added if the child has short hair. It is better to make the fringe longer at the back (even if it reaches the shoulders), and shorter at the front, so that there is normal visibility.

Cut off the fingers of old gloves, decorate them with fur, felt leaves.

I make algae from organza and tulle in green shades. I just tear the fabric into strips without finishing the edges, because Kikimora should not turn out very neat.
Need some of the algae to "curl". To do this, I sew with a long stitch (4-5 mm) with zero tension on the upper thread a line of algae either along one edge or broken at an angle from one edge to the other.

Then I tighten the thread, which leads to twisting and "curls" of our algae.




The little frogs decided not to sew voluminous ones so that they would not turn out heavy. I cut them out of felt, draw eyes and a mouth, sew them onto algae.

But Kikimora is a woman, which means she will definitely decorate herself with a brooch.
I am making a brooch in the form of a swamp lily from foamiran (artificial foam material for creativity). It is not difficult to work with it - it is easily cut with scissors, painted with pastel, processed with temperature (iron), taking the desired shape. Then all the parts are glued in the right order. I took a green wire as a basis, the whole structure rests on it.
