Some of you sewed my first fluffy bows from ribbons, someone sewed a felt keychain for a very long time (Sovunya’s pest), some of you collected my favorite funny and funny postcard of an unusual shape more than once (about which, by the way, I have a little story for you). Well, some needed master classes, which are not yet on the blog, but which I have already begun to create.

Thank you for writing, asking, and advising. This gives me new ideas and thoughts. But back to our master class. As food from felt, today I invite you to create with me this adorable crispy slice of toasted bread. It's probably a keychain. Although… I haven't made up my mind yet. And you know, until the last moment I doubted whether it would be a girl or a boy.

Strange, right? It would seem, what's the difference? - boy ... girl. Can bread have a gender? But in the end, for some reason, I decided to stick a pink bow on the slice anyway, and it turned out exactly what you see now in the title photo. I don't think it's bad, right?

Felt food. Delicious toasts for breakfast - Master class

In general, of course, food made from felt, in the view of most needlewomen, is more like cakes and cakes with a lot of cream, berries and nuts. But I decided to start with a less colorful and simpler one. This is the answer to the question why toast.

The second reason for this choice lies in the distinctive feature of this particular master class. A distinctive feature of this master class from all felt master classes previously published on the MY MK website is that there is not a single line, not a single connecting stitch. In an article about methods for joining felt parts, I mentioned the adhesive method of joining. In this tutorial, we will take a closer look at this method in practice.

For work, please prepare:

sponge for washing dishes
scissors, utility knife
two-color felt
embroidery threads
glue (you can read more about the choice of glue here)
a thin cord, a few beads and a satin ribbon
acrylic paints
blush or lip tint

The sponge for dishes, of course, must be new. I think that this moment is clear to everyone. New, clean and dry. We need to cut it first along, and then across. The result should be two rectangles with sides of 4.5x6.5 cm and a thickness of approx. 1 cm. With one of these rectangles, we will continue to work with you.

Next, you will need a pattern file. Please download and print it. You will need to transfer the outlines of the pattern to one of the foam rectangles and then cut the part along this outline.

After the main foam blank is cut out from us, we only have to prepare three felt parts - these are two parts from the same pattern from a felt sheet light color and one more piece (crust) made of dark felt. The detail of the crust is an ordinary long strip with sides 22x2.3 cm.

On one of the details of the slice, sketch out a smiling face with light strokes. When making the eyes, we will first stick circles of black felt, and then paint the eyes on top of them with white acrylic paint.

Let's complement the muzzle with a happy smile from threads like Iris or Muline. This is a regular hand stitch "forward needle". We have already used it many times with you. On the wrong side, we fix it with a knot and cut off the excess length of the thread. Ready!

Now our felt food has a mood. Her joyful mood, as they say, is evident. I am sure that your mood is the same, because we have the most responsible and most interesting assembly stage ahead of us. We need to make a loop so that there is something for our keychain to then cling to, and collect all the details together. Let's start with something simpler - with a cord.

We fold the cord about 25 cm long in half and lightly melt the ends with a lighter. Then we take our brown strip-crust and, stepping back from the middle of 1-2 cm, we make a small puncture in it with an awl or sharp manicure scissors. We thread the cord through this puncture and tie a knot at its end. The cord is now securely fastened.

You can also make a very small loop from a cord and then hook a special strap or cord with a carabiner onto it. Or you can not perform any loops at all. Perhaps it will be a toy slice or a kind of needle bed. As you can see, a variety of ideas and objects can be embodied in felt food. Both functional and purely decorative.

The lace is ready, it remains to stick the crust. We glue our strip of brown felt with glue, also coat the edges of the top and bottom parts of the bread (the very thickness of the felt) and glue the crust around the entire perimeter so that the lace is offset relative to the top of the product.

By gluing in this way at the bottom in the center, we will get a neat, even butt seam. The excess length of the strip (if it is found) is simply cut off with scissors. And we just have to clean up our product. As you can see from above and below along the edge, we got a small rim. It was thanks to him that we were able to glue the crust evenly, without gaps and distortions.

Now we just have to cut it (side) with scissors and voila - our slice is ready!

As a decor, I strung two beads on the string, fixed them with hot glue and ... nevertheless, I put a bright pink bow on the top of the slice. Now it's 100% girl!

I think she is adorable! I propose to look at a few recent photos from our felt photo shoot and sew the same thing for yourself. Or even a few, because as you know, food made from felt differs from ordinary food in that you can’t eat a lot of it. And if you eat, you still won't get better. You get sick and you don't get better. Joke!

Step 1: cut out the details

Download the toy food template and open it in Adobe Reader.
Print and cut out the necessary details. Where indicated, mark fold lines on the watermelon and pizza slices.
Next, place each template on the felt of the corresponding color. Trace the paper shapes onto the fabric using a pencil. Cut out the shapes with scissors.

Step 2: connect the parts
