We measure the child

Children's sizes are removed in the same way as adults:

• Height We ask the baby to take off his shoes and lean his back against the wall. We make a mark at the highest point of the head. We measure the distance from the floor to the mark.
• Bust, waist and hip measurements. We wrap our model with a centimeter tape along lines 2, 3 and 4, marked in the figure below.
• The length of the sleeve. From the upper border of the shoulder to the first joint of the thumb. At the same time, the arm should be slightly bent at the elbow, as in the figure.
• Inseam length. This is the distance from the ankle to the middle seam of the trousers.

Important! When taking measurements around the circumference of the waist, hips and chest, you do not need to tighten the centimeter tape too much or let it sag. We achieve only a snug fit and a horizontal position relative to the floor.

What to pay special attention to

The more accurately you get into the size of clothes for children, the better the item will fit. However, we should not forget that the baby grows quickly, but unevenly: in the first 12 months of life, he will add about 30 cm and 5-6 kg; after 10 years, it can sharply stretch upwards or vice versa, slightly behind peers in growth; after 13, a boy or girl can easily “go away” into adult dimensions. A few tips for choosing:

• For non-walking children (up to 12 months), you can take things with a good supply, because they grow quickly, and rolled up legs and sleeves are not so critical.
• The size of outerwear for children can also be chosen with a margin - usually this is the actual age + year.
• After 5 years, the child attaches more and more importance to how he looks, so when buying T-shirts, trousers, dresses, you should be more careful: choose a thing exactly according to the measure or with a minimum margin.
• For babies up to a year old, it is possible to determine what size is needed only by the length of the body, usually things have a sufficient margin in width; from 12 months to three years - height + breast volume; from three years - we take into account all the parameters.

By and large, both children's clothing dimensional grids (Russia) are universal. They have fairly large forks in terms of parameters for different heights and builds. But nevertheless, not all teenagers fit into them: usually it is low weight with high growth or high weight with short height. In this case, you will have to spend time searching for "your" brand. Compliance of parameters in Russia, USA, England and Europe

Foreign brands occupy a significant place in the Russian textile market. Therefore, one cannot ignore the sizes of European children's clothing, English and American. Their markings differ from Russian ones and have their own characteristics. So, in Europe, the scale for girls is broken down by height, for boys it is a sequence of numbers from 0 to 12; in America, the jackal contains both numbers and letters.

Note: almost all numbers in England and America are duplicated by age. For example, for 6 and 5 years old you take English No. 4, but look at the label for the desired height and chest circumference. This is convenient, since the five-year plan may well catch up with the six-year plan, or vice versa. For Europe, such repetitions are not typical. Hat selection

The sizes of children's hats are determined by age and head circumference in centimeters. However, the grids may differ: some have a 1 cm step, as in the table below, others have 2 (40, 42, 44, etc.) or even 4 cm (40, 44, 48, etc.). It depends, first of all, on the type of headgear: for elastic products, knitted or knitted, the step is larger, for non-stretchy ones, it is less. Age is not always indicated.

Above, we mentioned that children, especially newborns, grow very quickly, and it is better to take clothes for them with a margin. But this advice does not apply to hats: they should be matched as accurately as possible. Too large a headgear will cause inconvenience, and for the smallest, when shifted to the face (during sleep), it can interfere with normal breathing. The size of children's socks usually comes with a rather large step, which is explained by the high elasticity of modern products: they are easy stretched 3-4 cm. This is clearly seen from the following table. But this is not a rule: some manufacturers have a more detailed grid, in increments of 1 cm and 1 month, separate for babies up to 12 months. and from 1 year to 12 years.

Selection of socks

When choosing socks, it is not necessary to make a purchase exactly to the centimeter, but it is better that the length of the foot does not go along the upper border. Tights for children

The sizes of children's tights are determined by the child's age, height, hip circumference and foot length. Moreover, in the tables, the height is indicated with an error of 6 cm.(68-74, 74-80, 86-92, etc.), and the foot length is 2 cm (10-12, 12-14, 14-16, etc.). As you can see, the table shows close parameters for the same ages. This makes it possible to choose tights for a child with different fullness.

There is a feature of knitted and knitted fabrics: the stronger the transverse stretch, the shorter they are made. For example, for a “client” with a hip circumference of 52 cm and a height of 80 cm, you need to take tights with a size of 86-92, and not 74-80: the extra length in this case will go wide, the product will sit well on the figure.
