World Day of Reserves
Since 1997, on the initiative of the Wildlife Conservation Center and the World Wildlife Fund, January 11 is celebrated in Russia as the Day of Reserves and National Parks. Birthday of the Association of Reserves
February 25, 1995 is considered the date of birth of the Association of Reserves and National Parks of the North-West of Russia. The idea of its creation was put forward in August 1994 in the Vodlozersky NP, at the Russian-American seminar on the management of Russian protected areas. The initiative was supported by the participants of the all-Russian seminar on the problems of protected areas in Adler in December 1995. Today it is the largest public organization, uniting 23 participants.

This holiday appeared thanks to the Moscow Cat Museum, the museum was organized by the INTER Gallery of Modern Art in March 1993. The idea to create such a museum came up with two artists Andrei Abramov and Ekaterina Efimova. International Day of the Forest
The idea of celebrating the International Day of the Forest first appeared at the 23rd General Assembly of the European Confederation of Agriculture in 1971. On March 22, 2000, in St. Petersburg, by decision of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for Environmental Protection, the International Day of the Baltic Sea was celebrated for the first time. World Water Day (Water Day)
World Water Day has been celebrated since 1992 at the suggestion of the International Water Users Association and its President Alfred Rasted. 21	International Day of the Forest The idea of celebrating the International Day of the Forest first appeared at the 23rd General Assembly of the European Confederation of Agriculture in 1971. A year later, the World Food and Agriculture Organization at the United Nations (FAO) supported the idea of the International Day of the Forest as an occasion to inform society about the importance of forest conservation. It was decided to celebrate this day every year around the world on March 21 - the day of the autumnal equinox in the Southern Hemisphere and the spring equinox in the Northern Hemisphere.
22	International Baltic Sea Day On March 22, 2000, in St. Petersburg, by decision of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for Environmental Protection, the International Day of the Baltic Sea was celebrated for the first time. The purpose of the Baltic Sea Day is to popularize the ideas of the Helsinki Convention, inform the public and specialists about the activities of HELCOM, and expand the understanding of the influence of the metropolis on the Baltic Sea.
22	World Water Day (Water Day) World Water Day has been celebrated since 1992. at the suggestion of the International Water Users Association and its President Alfred Rasted. This proposal was enshrined in the decision of the participants of the UN Conference on Environment and Development, held June 3 - 14, 1992 in Rio de Janeiro. In 2003, the UN General Assembly declared 2005-2015 the International Decade for Action “Water for Life”, in connection with which the international significance of World Water Day has increased dramatically.
23	world meteorological day This day is dedicated to the formation of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) instead of the former International Meteorological Organization, established in 1873, and the entry into force of the WMO Convention on March 23, 1950. The motto of the holiday is "Weather, climate and water in the information age."
	Earth Hour Global annual international action organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), which is held annually on the last Saturday of March. It consists in the fact that on this day at the appointed time, people in different countries of the world turn off the light and other electrical appliances for one hour.

Our nature is the most valuable thing we have. Many fantastically beautiful and fascinating places delight and impress mankind. But there are not as many of these magnificent places on the planet as we would like, and why? It is because of the influence of man and the progress of scientific and technological activities. People do not think about the fact that the formation of personal coziness and convenience negatively affects their very environment.

Ecologists are involved in the preservation, protection and restoration of the environment. It is they who contribute to the introduction into the scientific and technical process of technologies that will have the most favorable effect on the climate, biosphere, atmosphere and other components of the environment.

History

On May 5, Russia celebrates the Day of the Ecologist and the Day of Environmental Protection. On this day, congratulations are accepted by students, teachers, environmental engineers, specialists in the protection and rational use of natural resources, and everyone who is somehow connected with this industry. It is our most important duty to congratulate specialists in this field.

The date of the celebration of Ecologist's Day coincides with the International Environment Day. Officially, the holiday was approved by the President of the Russian Federation in 2007.

The specialty of an ecologist is one of the most important professions at this stage of human existence. More and more specialists annually graduate from universities and colleges, because the problem of environmental protection has become a worldwide issue. Everyone who is not indifferent to the future fate of mankind is trying to protect our nature from the harmful influence of people and their technical activities on it.

An ecologist is a specialist who analyzes, monitors and develops measures to reduce the impact of harmful substances on the environment. The main objectives of environmental research are:

identification of the main types of ecological systems and landscape units, assessment of the features of their composition;
development of methods for collecting and analyzing information to characterize the state of the biosphere as a whole;
providing an assessment of the level of resilience of the biosphere and individual ecosystems in relation to external influences;
development and creation of protected and protected areas;

There are more and more people in the world who want to connect their lives with ecology and environmental protection.

Traditions

Every year on June 5, environmentalists organize many events in honor of their professional holiday. Campaigns are being held by which environmentalists lure people to rationally use natural resources. Exhibitions of children's drawings, scientific conferences and presentations are organized.

Cleaning of the territory of forest plantations and parks, planting trees and flowers is also carried out. Television broadcasts many programs aimed at protecting nature.

Celebrations are held in groups, with family and friends.
