In a good scenario, it is quite possible to negotiate a free schedule. It is enough to write an application to the dean's office with a written indication of good reasons (pregnancy and child care) and verbal promises to pass all control and laboratory tests on time. And then draw up an individual plan - personally with each teacher.

- In the autumn I received freedom of study and sat down in the park for books, from which I learned no less than from my friend's notes. And at the end of the course, she approached the teachers who were to take exams and asked directly: “What should I do to get a machine gun, otherwise I’ll give birth, and it won’t be up to the session,” recalls Marina Panina, a graduate of the philological faculty of Moscow State University. - We met halfway: one allowed to get off with an abstract, the other - with additional translations, the third with reports at each seminar asked to speak. By the time "H" has reported on all subjects - a month before the session.

In fact, the girl had the right to pass everything ahead of schedule: the charters of universities provide for shifts in the student schedule if the due date falls on the exams. But with one “but”: the beneficiary needs to close all the targets - control, laboratory, abstracts, tests ... Try to be in time when time props up the stomach too.

Of course, teachers often make concessions and demand an acceptable minimum of knowledge. But sometimes at the exams come across types - from the principle they bring down. So there is no need to speculate on the position. For the most part, university macarons do not make allowances for a piquant situation.

- Then one pregnant student begged me for a "machine gun", and I thought - why on earth? This is her conscious choice, and not a hopeless situation when she needs help, - the “Englishwoman” from the Russian State Humanitarian University was indignant.

And quite rightly: no one drove you to the desk. By the way, for those who study "on credit", the loan program does not give the right to absenteeism, early surrender and other bonuses that are growing before our eyes. And if with the examination schedule the dean's offices still allow "fifteen games", then they do not allow "credit cards" to retake.

True, teachers notice, those who said “no” to academic leave often have complete order with discipline. And they study and pass, provoking pundits to completely unexpected indulgences and concessions, like Maria Kuchina, a young mother from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology:

- I prepared for each exam by the sweat of my brow, but still they asked half a turn, the questions were simple, I passed - I didn’t notice how. Completely "excellent" and "good".

Sketches instead of boots

It's good when you practice outdoors at the easel. And if in the caves or at the factory machine? You have the right to refuse "field" conditions and take harmful laboratories theoretically - according to the reports of classmates. Again, it is not a fact that the educational part will meet halfway, but a certificate from a doctor, certified in an institute polyclinic or first-aid post, works almost flawlessly. In the case of Daria Gushchina, a graduate of the Textile University (MSTU named after Kosygin), the following worked:

- As a designer, I was supposed to practice in a shoe factory. And there are allergens all around - glues, paints, dust, scraps of fur and leather. I had to defend the baby in the dean's office - I got off with a slight fright and homemade sketches.

By the way, the university medical room is an indispensable thing in an “interesting position”: they will measure the pressure and temperature there to dispel doubts. On occasion, even the pills they need will be given out and an ambulance called.

But don't let yourself be fooled either. Colleagues in the audience like to endure a cold on their feet, so the slightest ailment - take a sick leave and do not show your nose to the university. Physical education immediately - retired: no leg swings, jumps and crosses - especially in the first, critical, semester. Not to mention the crowds at rush hour. If there is an opportunity to go around them - be so kind. And another enemy of female students is the food at the alma mater, which is far from perfect. Doctors, including Olga Mayboroda, advise every morning to stock up on nuts and dried fruits for a snack, and even better - vegetable salads and boiled meat.

What about the lectures themselves? It's terrible, on what wooden "goats" we sit for hours. Pregnant - as if tortured: neither bend nor straighten. Therefore, embarrassment aside: ask for a soft chair, and in case of ailments (dizziness, pain in the shoulders and back), permission to leave without asking.

For kids for milk

Moral help is good, but material help is also good. Especially for day students who are not ready to lose their scholarship. There is no need for fears - even girls on academic leave will keep cash payments. Eight thousand rubles at the university will be paid immediately after receiving a birth certificate, the rest will be stretched to a year and a half - 1,500 rubles a month. But even those who have not yet given birth will be left with financial assistance in the form of a scholarship.

True, institute money does not shine for correspondence students and evening students. They shine in the office if a student tears her stomach at work. Or at the place of study (service) of a young father. And if neither there nor there, then in the social security authorities at the place of residence (registration). In any case, you will not be left without benefits: if anything, read the law.

Money is tight? We advise you to make friends with the trade union committee and by all means join it - with ridiculous membership fees you will receive legal services, benefits, bonuses and other surprises in the form of vouchers to a rest home and dispensary. Housing problem

Not all students have their own corner at hand. If your address is not a house or a street, but a foreign city, be prepared to face the housing problem nose to nose. Others are afraid to take the academy. It is understandable - no one is obliged to save vacationers a place in the hostel. Only in one case will they wait - if you are in the hospital.

As soon as the administration of the hostel becomes noticeable belly, they will immediately begin to hint at a change in nesting. The point here is not hostility towards pregnant women, but the commandant's fear for his own skin: in the event of an inspection from the medical or sanitary-hygienic department, thunder will inevitably strike ... Unless you provide a student with a place in a family-type hostel (and such - a shortage) or at least would be a mandatory minimum of conditions.

You have the right to voice this minimum yourself - after sixteen weeks of pregnancy. With a statement in hand, confirmed by a certificate from a doctor. The amenities provided for expecting a baby are not a fountain. But still - a separate room with a window, a battery, two sockets and a radio. As well as a toilet at hand, a shower, a telephone, a refrigerator - unless, of course, all this is observed in the “room”. In the absence of an elevator, you can’t scold your stomach on the stairs: your right is to ask for the first floor. And completely abandon community work days: neighbors are unlikely to be offended if they clean corners, windows without you, are on duty in the kitchen and other common areas.

Also, ask, but don't demand. In "towers", where in rooms for three or four beds six or seven people are pressed together, it is useless to download the rights. In theory, they owe something to pregnant women, in practice - with aggressive pressure and the impossibility of the commandant's office to allocate a corner - the young lady will simply be shown the door. Therefore, it is better not to quarrel and stay in a room where all friends and everyone are ready to help. We are silent about the apartment - it is up to you to decide whether you are ready to rent it. Another option is to ask your husband to go to the hostel, if he is not from your university. Miracles happen - they give a place, but again, if there are free rooms and the notorious stamp in the passport.

By the way, about the stamp ... Many hostels, even family-type, by hook or by crook disown unnecessary tenants, especially infants. If you are married and the father of the child is permanently registered (the term is outdated, but understandable to everyone) in the city where the university is located, the hostel will most likely refuse to register the newborn. Moreover, both in the commandant's office and in the dean's office, the newly-made dad will be required to register the baby at home.

And only in two cases the campus authorities will sign the necessary signature - if the young lady is a single mother or with her husband, but both are from other cities. Here, by the way, if the baby is denied registration at the place of residence, you can and even need to knock your fist and appeal to the law.

How to raise an heir in a hostel is another song, but not about it now. I heard that in one of the Moscow universities, the activists of the "mothers' movement" managed to get a separate room from the dean's office for ... a nursery. Where the governess hired by a hoard manages. But I don't name turnout information.

A closer example is Maria Kuchina from MIPT. She and her fourth-year husband achieved a free schedule in the dean's office and set up a duty: while one is steaming in pairs, the other is babysitting the little one.

“Studying,” he says, “is generally difficult, especially at the Fiztekh. But no more difficult than without a child. I can't explain how, it's just different. You only know that you need to believe in yourself and no “buts” - then you will find strength and the hare will have a lawn. Therefore, my advice to everyone is to use protection, but if anything, try to be happy right away.

Because, older mothers add, giving birth is often inopportune. At the height of a career or in the wonderful years of a student - pregnancy, even planned, always creates certain difficulties. And the students, oddly enough, still have a head start: by the time the young ladies receive a diploma, the children will grow up - and maternity leave will not interfere with their careers.
