After applying the first layer of paraffin, the face is covered with a gauze napkin. It has slits for the eyes, mouth and nose. Can you cut this napkin? Do it yourself or buy it ready-made in the store.

Description and composition of the mask with paraffin for the face, its useful properties and contraindications, as well as application rules and home recipes.

Description of the paraffin face mask

Paraffin is a wax-like mixture of white hydrocarbons inert to many chemicals, which is obtained from petroleum products. The name of the substance is derived from two Latin words: parum, which means "little", and affinis, which translates as "related". This name was given to paraffin neutral to reagents by Karl von Reichenbach, who discovered it, a German chemist and naturalist.

Paraffin for medical and cosmetic procedures is sold in pharmacies and is a white bar that is soft to the touch. Coloring may vary depending on what useful components were added to the original substance. Cost - an average of about 2.5 dollars. for 500 ml. Paraffin cream for a cold mask - more expensive, about 7.5 dollars. for 300 ml.

The melting point of paraffin is low (45-65°C), in contrast to its heat capacity. Such features make this substance very successful for medical and cosmetic procedures - it does not react with fortified and other useful components added to it, giving them to the body, and keeps a pleasant heat for a long time, creating a kind of greenhouse effect over the skin.

The latter contributes to the opening of pores and increased perspiration. Moisture under paraffin cannot evaporate and is absorbed back, but the toxins that came out with it to the surface of the skin remain, i.e., detoxification and purification occur. Cooling down, the paraffin decreases in volume and shrinks, thereby massaging and smoothing the dermis, which it covers, which increases the elasticity and tone of the latter, swelling and fine wrinkles disappear.

For those who are unable to endure contact with a very warm substance, a variant of the procedure has been devised, when a layer of paraffin is coldly applied to the skin and the substance gradually melts while on it.

The course of paraffin therapy is usually 15-20 procedures - 1-2 times a week. Then, once a month, you can do a mask with paraffin, which supports the achieved result.

Useful properties of a mask with paraffin for the face

Most often, paraffin masks are made for facial skin. Cosmetologists recommend this procedure to their clients, as it brings undoubted benefits. Namely:

  • cleansing. Procedures with paraffin temporarily expand the pores, soften their contents and cleanse, thereby preventing the formation of acne. Also, masks with it activate the outflow of lymph, which cleanses the dermis from decay products, salts and lactate.
  • Toning. Such masks, stimulating blood circulation, contribute to the fact that cell metabolism improves and the epidermis is renewed, the skin acquires freshness, softness and elasticity, acne spots disappear. Regular use of paraffin masks is also the prevention of the appearance of wrinkles, stretch marks and a second chin.
  • Defect removal. Paraffin masks, acting with heat on the deep layers of the skin, contribute to the resorption of seals on it, for example, sebaceous-horn plugs or deep acne. They also eliminate peeling and redness with cold allergies.

Rules for applying a paraffin mask to the face

Here is the correct sequence of actions if you want to carry out a paraffin therapy procedure for facial skin yourself:
  • Preparatory stage. Melt the paraffin in a water bath. Place a colander over a container of boiling water, and a vessel with a substance on it. 100 g is enough for you to cover the skin with several layers (at least three). Be sure to ensure that water does not get into the dishes where the paraffin melts. It is important! The drops will not dissolve in the total mass and can severely burn the skin when you apply the mask. This item is important for a hot mask, if you are going to make a cold one, in this case, the paraffin cream is not melted, but simply applied to the skin immediately.
  • Skin preparation. Remove make-up and impurities, apply a scrub (natural coffee can be used as this), rub your face, neck and wash your face. Spread the skin with a vitaminized cream. Before applying paraffin, lie down and relax the muscles of your face and neck - so the benefits of the procedure will be more tangible. Since it is difficult to lie down and apply a mask at the same time, find an assistant for paraffin therapy.
  • Application sequence. Check the temperature of the applied substance on the skin of the wrist - it should be as warm as possible, but such that you can withstand the procedure without suffering (about 50-55 degrees). Apply paraffin to the face with a cotton pad or brush from the bottom up (don't forget about the neck!), following the massage lines and avoiding the area around the eyes and above the lips. After applying the first layer, put gauze on your face (pre-make holes in it for the nose, eyes and mouth), press it against the skin, wait a few seconds and apply the next layer. Wait a few seconds again and apply the next layer. Do not make more gauze layers. Apply a layer of paraffin over and over again. Their minimum number is three, preferably 5-7. Put a towel on top for warmth. Cold cream paraffin is applied in much the same way. The difference is that it is applied directly on top of the gauze mask.
  • Time spending. The paraffin therapy procedure lasts 15-20 minutes.
  • Removing the mask. Pry the gauze from below and remove the paraffin from the face. Then remove its remains from the skin. Wipe with calendula tincture (if the dermis is oily) or cosmetic milk (if dry or normal). After that, smear with a cream, nourishing or moisturizing. When applying it, do a light pinching massage across the wrinkles.
Paraffin should not be reused! You can go outside no earlier than an hour later, this requirement is especially important if the weather is cold.

In our modern cosmetology, in many beauty salons, paraffin therapy is flourishing and gaining momentum. With the help of molten paraffin, baths are made for arms and legs, for the whole body, and even masks for.

Paraffin for the face: benefits and harms

There are two types of paraffin - yellow and white. White is practically non-allergenic, more often used in household use, but it can only be used once, unlike yellow. Paraffin therapy is used to restore, rejuvenate and cleanse the skin. Paraffin has a great effect on the skin, nourishes it, relieving dryness and. Removes deep wrinkles, eliminates fine wrinkles, makes the skin supple and facial features toned.

In addition, it copes well with acne and enlarged pores. When paraffin solidifies on the skin, it begins to cool and shrink, thereby tightening the skin. You can feel this effect approximately 20 minutes after application. That is why swelling disappears, skin elasticity increases. When making a paraffin mask, blood circulation increases, liquid and harmful toxins come out of the skin, but due to the fact that the paraffin hardens, the liquid is absorbed back into the skin, thereby saturating and nourishing, and the toxins that have come out through the steamed pores remain on the paraffin mask. Paraffin procedures are best done when the skin is especially prone to dryness and chapping.
There are also contraindications, not observing which, you can cause irreparable harm to yourself. With enlarged pores and vessels close to the skin, it is not recommended to use paraffin treatments due to the thermal effect. Also, if you have a lot of warts, moles or increased vegetation on your body or face. The presence of allergic reactions, skin diseases, hypertension and poor blood clotting is also a reason to refuse the use of paraffin therapy.

How to apply paraffin

Before proceeding with the procedure using paraffin, it is necessary to thoroughly cleanse the face. Wash with a soft scrub so that there is no pollution. After cleansing, you should wipe your face with either some oil or your favorite nourishing or moisturizing cream (a paraffin mask will help absorb the cream or oil as much as possible).

Next, we proceed to the melting of paraffin. Approximately 60 g of hard paraffin is enough for one mask. It can be melted in a water bath (by stirring, since the substance flammable) or in a special one for melting paraffins. When performing the procedure, it will be better if you ask someone to help you, because it is quite difficult to apply it alone.
To apply, you need a brush or spatula, the first stroke should be done somewhere on the forehead, checking the temperature so as not to burn yourself. After making sure that the paraffin does not burn, you can safely proceed to application to the entire face, starting from the chin, following the massage lines. After you spread the first layer, you need to cover your face with a gauze bandage (prepare in advance by cutting holes for the lips, nose, eyes). And immediately smear another 5-6 layers of paraffin.

So that the paraffin does not freeze, it is better to keep it in a water bath during the entire procedure. Without moving or talking, you need to lie down for about half an hour. During the elapsed time, the paraffin will harden. After this time, carefully remove the gauze from your face, along with it, the frozen paraffin should come off. Rinse off what's left with warm water. After the mask, you need to lubricate your face with cream.

Paraffin masks

It would seem, what kind of masks are there from paraffin, does it already have the necessary properties? But there are several types, with the addition of various components to enhance the effect.

Paraffin-based masks have a number of useful properties when exposed to the skin of the face. Paraffin mask not only cleanses the skin, but also nourishes, refreshes, rejuvenates the skin of the face. It softens sebaceous plugs and fights wrinkles.

Therefore, today we will tell you recipes on how to make a paraffin face mask with your own hands at home.

What is the effect of paraffin

Paraffin covers the skin of the face with an airtight layer, as a result of which the temperature under the mask rises and the pores open. Then the paraffin solidifies and squeezes the skin of the face, thereby activating the sebaceous glands. As a result, a deep cleansing of the face occurs, excess fat and metabolic products are removed.

However, such a mask has contraindications, so before deciding on such a mask, you should consult a specialist.

How to apply paraffin on the face

When applying a paraffin mask, you need to monitor its temperature. Hot paraffin can burn your face. Paraffin melts at a temperature of 48 degrees, so before applying it to the face, it must be cooled. Test the temperature on your wrist. Paraffin should be warm, not hot.

Before applying the mask, lubricate your face with a fat cream. Oily skin is wiped with a mixture of alcohol and ether.

After carefully wiping the skin of the face and checking the temperature of the paraffin, apply it to the face. Paraffin is applied either with a cotton swab or with a brush, moving along the massage lines from the chin to the forehead. A napkin is placed on top of the paraffin layer, after which another layer of paraffin is applied. Usually do 3-4 layers.

What products can be added to paraffin

To enhance the effect of paraffin, the mask is made with the addition of vegetable oils. To do this, beeswax and vegetable oil are added to the melted paraffin. For oily skin, add quite a bit, and for dry skin, add up to 70 g of oil.

A paraffin mask can also be made with the addition of cocoa butter.

Which paraffin is better to use

According to cosmetologists, it is better to use cosmetic paraffin - this is a translucent substance that can be bought at a pharmacy.

Naturally, natural paraffin is better than cosmetic, because it contains trace elements that are so beneficial for our skin. The only restriction that can apply to the use of natural paraffin is an allergy to honey or bee products.

They are recommended for those who have dry, flabby, saggy skin. Indeed, in its essence - paraffin is a natural fat that nourishes and softens the skin. Masks are effective for swelling of the face, sagging cheeks, stretch marks and other age-related skin changes.

They are also very effective in combating the second chin, as well as, if necessary, tightening the oval of the face.

The duration of the face mask application is 15-20 minutes, no more than three times a week. The general course of skin restoration takes 10-15 procedures, if necessary, after a month or two, they can be repeated, alternately doing other cosmetic procedures.

However, it is not necessary to wait for skin problems to make a mask. If you urgently need to put your skin in order - a paraffin-based mask is what you need!

If you have a girlfriend or close relative who is interested in doing salon treatments at home, then performing a facial paraffin treatment will be a feasible task for you. The most important thing here is to choose suitable creams and emulsions for yourself, buy cosmetic paraffin and a brush for applying it. Having got the hang of it, you can carry out an effective anti-aging procedure at home and get salon-like results from it.

Why cosmetic paraffin is so good

It has several obvious advantages at once, which give a pronounced effect after the first procedure.

  • Thermal impact.

Despite the fact that paraffin is heated to almost 50 ° C before application to the skin, the risk of burns is minimal, since the preparation slowly releases heat. Under a layer of paraffin, the temperature of the tissues rises slightly, by about one and a half to two degrees. But this is enough to speed up the course of metabolic processes by 15%, improve blood flow, increase lymph outflow, accelerate the removal of excess fluid, metabolic products, and toxins.

Under the influence of soft heat, facial muscles relax, mimic wrinkles and skin creases diverge.
  • The ability to shrink when cooled.

When cooling, it decreases in volume, because the paraffin mask on the face tightens and at the same time tightens the skin. This gives a pronounced lifting effect.

  • "The greenhouse effect".

The paraffin layer does not let moisture out. Under the influence of heat and high humidity, the epidermis loosens, the pores open, and all the useful components of cosmetics penetrate deep into the skin.

How to do at home

We offer you a universal technology for facial paraffin therapy at home, painted step by step.

  • Preparing a workplace.

We will need a comfortable chair, table or coffee table to accommodate all the necessary cosmetics and accessories, a water bath or a bath for melting paraffin. It is better to cover the table with a towel or a sheet, which over time it will not be a pity to throw away, since it is not so easy to wash off paraffin from surfaces.

  • Warm up the paraffin.

If you have a paraffin bath, then just turn it on and wait for the paraffin to heat up to the desired temperature. At this time, you can prepare the workplace or prepare the skin for applying paraffin.

If there is no heater bath, then the paraffin will have to be heated in a water bath. To do this, you will need two pans of different diameters. Water is poured into a large one, paraffin is placed into a smaller one. Care must be taken to ensure that no water gets into the paraffin.

Periodically, paraffin should be stirred with a wooden stick. It is important not to overheat the wax and at the same time not to let it thicken too quickly.

  • Preparing the skin for the application of paraffin.

We wash our face and apply a gentle scrub or peeling roll on the face. In principle, the exfoliation step is not necessary, but the preliminary removal of the layer of dead cells allows you to get a more pronounced effect from the applied serums or ampoule concentrates. Rinse off the rest of the exfoliant with water. We wipe the face dry and wipe it with lotion or tonic.

In order not to dry out the skin, do not use alcohol-containing products. We apply a cream, ampoule concentrate or serum, distribute the product with soft massage movements and let it completely absorb.

  • We apply paraffin.

To apply paraffin, use a cosmetic brush. If the paraffin was heated in a water bath, then first we do a temperature test on the arm. If the paraffin does not burn, apply it in a thin layer on the face. It is good to grab the neck as low as possible. The area around the eyes can be protected with cotton pads.

On top of the first layer of paraffin, put a layer of gauze or a fabric mask. We apply several more layers of paraffin on top of the fabric until the thickness of the mask becomes about 1 cm. We close the paraffin with a layer of film with cutouts for the nose and eyes. You can put a towel on top of the film. After all the steps are completed, you can move to a chair with a headrest or lie down for 20-30 minutes and relax.

  • Completion of the procedure.

When the paraffin has cooled, it is removed by lifting the edges of the gauze in the direction from the neck to the forehead. The skin, until it has lost moisture, is covered with a cover cream.

As a cover cream, any thick cream or protective face cream is suitable.

When the paraffin therapy procedure is completed, you need to stay warm for at least half an hour, drink hot tea.

Don't miss out on the relaxation and sense of well-being that any spa treatment can provide, even if performed at home.

How often can you do

Usually paraffin therapy for the face is prescribed in a course of 10-15 procedures. But at home, it can be done as needed, as soon as the skin of the face loses its velvety and smoothness, it becomes dry after being in the cold. Usually 1-2 treatments per week are sufficient.

Up to what age will it be effective?

Each of the ages has its own tasks, therefore facial paraffin therapy will be effective at any age and will provide a significant improvement in skin condition and general well-being.

The price of paraffin therapy for the face in salons

The cost of home paraffin therapy will be several times less. At first, you will have to spend money on cosmetics and paraffin, but then for a long time no more investments will be required from you.

Up
