Clay from a well what to do with it. It will not be enough - what to do if there is not enough water in the well

After drilling in a well or well, muddy polluted water rises. This is due to the presence of small soil particles that are not retained by the bottom filter. As a result, they settle on a crushed stone pillow and silt up the well. To achieve crystal clear water, the well must be pumped immediately after drilling or during use. We will discuss the main problems and mistakes in this article about how to rock a well with a clay bottom.

When is a boost required?

As already mentioned, buildup is necessary immediately after drilling or if there is pollution at the bottom of the well. Depending on the type of pollution and the depth of the mine, the procedure can take from 12 hours to several weeks, but in any case, it must be carried out.
A well with a clay bottom can cause a lot of trouble - cleaning can sometimes take months. Before the appearance of clean water, it is sometimes necessary to pump out more than 500 cubic meters of muddy water.

Declaying methods

There are two types of pumping to deal with siltation of a well or well:

  1. Interior.
  2. External.

The internal method involves the processing of the pores of the walls of the mine for deep cleansing.
External - removal of clay from the inner surface of the well and its bottom.

Technically, the buildup can be done mechanically, chemically and hydromechanically. The first two act as a kind of safety net or a useful addition. The main method is hydromechanical with the use of pumping stations. The pumps generate jets of water to break the clay crust and wash out the silt at the bottom, and are also used to drain muddy water to the outside. In the case when the water pressure does not allow to knock down plaque on the walls of the well, a mechanical method is used, namely, it is knocked down manually.

Swing technology

Before you swing a well with a clay bottom, you need to acquire two types of submersible pumps, since future loads can lead to complete wear of working parts. To do this, it is best to purchase units of domestic production. In some cases, the owners of a newly minted well “kill” more than one such device during pumping.

The buildup of a well with a clay bottom on the example of a vibration pump of the "Kid" type and a centrifugal pump of the "Aquarius" type:

  1. The vibration pump "Kid" on a long steel cable is lowered into the mine, not reaching 60-70 cm to the bottom of the well, almost at the level with the gravel filter. Thus, he will be able to break, capture and remove silt with large particles to the outside, and not just stir up water.
  2. Periodically, the filter is removed and washed with a large volume of clean water.
  3. The end of the turbid water outlet hose must be placed away from the well so that it does not flow back.
  4. After 24-36 hours, if the water is still mixed with sand and clay, it is necessary to replace the “Kid” pump with the Aquarius centrifugal pump.

Important! In the process of building a well, you can not pump out all the water. Full water intake will cause solid particles to stick together and clog the pores of the well walls. Therefore, this will entail a decrease in the flow rate of the well / well.

To calculate the flow rate of the well, it is necessary to multiply the diameter of the shaft by the height of the column and divide the resulting number by the time the water stays. Compare the result with the performance of the pump, and you can accurately calculate the time of one session of the station without a full intake of water.
The buildup of the well occurs until crystal clear water comes out of the outlet hose.

Main problems and errors

Before rocking a well in clay, familiarize yourself with the already known technological errors.

  1. If you lower the pump too low, it will clog with silt in a matter of minutes. It also happens that the unit is completely tightened by quicksand.
  2. If the distance between the bottom and the pump is greater than the norm, only the upper aquifer of the well will be cleaned, and the sludge will remain in place.
  3. A drain hose that is too short or placed close to a well will cause dirty water to return to the source.

Preventive measures

When digging a well, blue clay can be found quite often. If you are faced with this, then pay special attention to the construction of the well. Although the design is easy to cock, the type of soil must be taken into account.

The well, which is located in the clay horizon, allows you to get especially soft water. It is not only very clean, but also rich in useful substances, so do not be afraid of clay.

If we take into account the soil on the site, then the wells are of the following types:

  1. Clay and peat layer. It is quite difficult to make a source on a site with such soil, but the water will flow tasty and soft. In some cases, it may taste like hydrogen sulfide, but you should not refuse such a liquid or think about where to put such water, because hydrogen sulfide will quickly evaporate from it.
  2. Clay quicksand. It is necessary to immediately tune in to a large amount of work, because the construction of a well on such soil is one of the most difficult actions. Water enters such a well very quickly, its trunk may be uneven.
  3. Stones and layers containing clay. You will not be able to make a source on such a site yourself, since the amount of work is very large. It is best to resort to the help of specialists who will provide drilling equipment, rather than dig the ground yourself.
  4. layer of sand. The lower level in such a well is a quicksand. This is a mixture of sand and water, you will also find clay. Remember that it is forbidden to completely pump out water from the source. Even if you have to do this, then the water column can be reduced by a maximum of 25%. This should only be done in extreme cases.
  5. Clay. A well that is completely located in such a layer is the easiest to make. The aquifer usually lies at a depth of 4 to 30 meters. Remember that in the first year of operation, the flow rate of the well will not be very good, but then the water will flow faster and faster, it will wash out the clay. In about 2-3 years, the well will reach its maximum capacity. If you do everything right, you will be provided with clean and soft water.

If the well is on a quicksand, then additional precautions must be taken so that the liquid does not mix with dirt. For example, you are going to make a structure of 5 rings, then the pump must be lowered so that it does not fall below 2 rings. The water in the 3 lower rings must be at rest, then it will be clean.

The soil may contain clay inclusions that can pass in a layer. Do not think about where to put the clay. Water, passing through such horizons, acquires the smell of hydrogen sulfide, but you should not worry. When you start pumping out the water, the smell will go away.

Stages of a well device

Deciding to do all the work yourself, conduct a thorough study of the soil. This will allow you to understand at what point you should pay closer attention.

Determine the level of occurrence of the aquifer - an important parameter will be the saturation of the flow. No one knows exactly at what depths the aquifer is located.

Geological exploration is not cheap, so you can focus on wells located in neighboring areas. Of course, these are approximate indicators of depth.

Specify the place where you are going to make a well. You should not drill a mine for it in the place of the land where you walk or park your car. It is forbidden to make a well near a septic tank, outbuildings like a bathhouse or a summer kitchen, because the drain from them can fall into the well.

In this case, the design will be reliably protected from the appearance of quicksand. The liquid in the well will not stagnate, it will have a pleasant smell.

If in the future you plan to lay water supply from the well into the house, you should not make a well far from the building. So you save money, because you do not have to install a very powerful pump and buy a lot of pipes.

It all starts with drilling a mine in clay. If possible, it is best to hire special equipment. If you do not want to rent special equipment for drilling a mine, you can use a manual type installation.

In order to make a well, buy a casing pipe. You will need a pump of the required power. Do not do without a bottom filter. It is his presence that is a distinctive part of the well. When constructing a well in a different soil, a filter at the bottom is not needed.

Install concrete rings in the shaft, firmly connect them with brackets. Seams must be sealed to prevent leaks. Be sure to make a blind area around.

So that from a well made on blue clay, you receive only tasty and clean water, make a bottom filter . It looks like a "pillow". First, pour a layer of sand on the bottom, about 20 cm. The next layer will be pebbles, 20 cm is enough.

Gravel is poured last, you need 25 cm. Tamp each layer well. Please note that water will arrive at the well very quickly, so you need to pour materials and compact them as quickly as possible.

After the bottom filter is ready, you can mount the pump. When the digging of the mine is completed, it is necessary to pump the source. The decoration of the source hatch completes the construction process. Housewives will find where to direct their creativity.

Well with rings on blue clay

You have chosen a construction with concrete rings. In this case, the amount of work will be a little more, but you can do it in 1 day. Dig 50 cm of soil, install 1 concrete ring. Carefully choose the soil from under it, the structure will gradually go down under its own weight. To increase the rate of sinking, tamp the ring a little.

When you deepen the shaft another 25 cm, then place a second concrete product on top of the first ring. Continue until you see that the mine has been dug to the aquifer.

What to do so that the rings do not part to the sides during the operation of the well? They need to be connected with brackets. At the bottom of the shaft, you need to make a bottom filter, then particles of blue clay or sand will not get into the water.

You need to make a bottom filter as follows:

  1. Prepare river sand, buy gravel. You should have coarse material and medium sized gravel.
  2. When, during the construction of the mine, you see that an aquifer is located below, take a pump and pump water out of the mine.
  3. Remove dirt from the bottom of the well by digging down another 15 cm. After you remove the mixture, level the bottom.
  4. Pour 25 cm of sand, compact the layer.
  5. Lay the gravel, at this stage use the material of the middle fraction. When the layer thickness reaches 30 cm, compact.
  6. Pour coarse material. Level the layer and tamp.

This is how you make a natural filter. Passing through it, the water will be purified. It will be tasty and very clean. Before the start of water intake, a well made on blue clay must be pumped.

Conclusion

A blue clay well can be made quickly. When performing work, pay attention to the design features. Be sure to make a bottom filter, then the water in the blue clay well will be clean and tasty. This should be done if black clay is also present in the soil.

Good day dear readers!

When digging a water source in dense clay, in addition to the difficulties of penetration, another unpleasant moment often arises.

Quite often, in a new source, water contains a finely dispersed admixture of clay.

Therefore, all containers, filters and other objects with which it comes into contact are covered with a dense white coating.

When will it disappear clay well finally be cleansed of this unpleasant substance? This question is asked by thousands of owners of mine sources.

It's definitely impossible to say. Everything here depends on the volume of incoming water and the concentration of clay suspension in it.

What to do when there is clay in the water?

Do not try to filter such water. Clay particles are so small that they will even pass through a "zero" polypropylene filter.

It will delay some of them, so in extreme cases you can use it. For example, when we had clay well just dug, we were forced to do it. The reason is that the water went into the boiler for showering and washing dishes.

If it had not been filtered at all, the boiler would quickly become clogged with hard sediment. Washing with clay water, despite its benefits for the skin, is not entirely pleasant. It is one thing to do such a procedure once a month and quite another to use such water daily.

White or yellow clay in the well?

The taste of water with yellow clay is very nasty, it is impossible to drink such water.

White clay is much better in this regard. It is neutral in taste and is useful for those who suffer from stomach ulcers. Nearly losing hope of getting out of trouble when clay well spoiled, the next year we were surprised to find a decrease in its concentration.

First, the sediment disappeared, and then the water became quite pleasant to the taste. Therefore, to everyone who dug a well in clay, we can give useful practical advice - do not rush. Collect water for household needs. Thus, you will gradually remove the layer that contains such colloidal clay and in the future the water will be normal.

We have several older sources near the dacha. In them, the water is clean and tasty, but for sure the first use had the same problem with the presence of clay water.

The well on the plot guarantees uninterrupted water supply. Appetite comes with eating, and water deficiency is detected during active housekeeping, for example, in the summer a lot of water is spent on watering the garden and vegetable garden, or guests arrive and the need for water increases sharply. If there is a problem, then a solution can be found.

The effectiveness of the well pumping depends on the soil in which it is dug and the design of the lower part of the shaft. To guarantee a positive result, rocking should begin immediately after the completion of construction work or scheduled repairs. The procedure has two goals: to completely pump out contaminated water and, as it were, to stimulate an increase in the volume of inflow. Also, when swinging, the smallest particles are removed, which can silt the bottom of the well.

Despite the simplicity of the process, pumping can not only improve, but also worsen the condition of the well, so you need to do it wisely.

Give less, get more

Do not rush right off the bat and completely pump out water from the well. The recommended volume is no more than ¾ of the water level. With full pumping, the water level will simply recover after a certain time. Due to the intensive influx of water, the bottom of the well will begin to erode, and the goal is completely different - it is necessary to achieve an increase in the volume of water, so the water is replaced in small volumes, gradually, but often.

From the equipment you will need an inexpensive centrifugal pump and a winch to hang it at a height of about 1 meter above the level of the well bottom. The buildup process lasts quite a long time, with strict adherence to the amount of selected water. It ends when the owner is satisfied with the flow rate of the well and the quality of the water in it.

Swinging the well is not guaranteed to work 100% of the time, but it does work more than 60% of the time. In fact, buildup and pumping are one process, but in the first case - for a new well, in the second - for an old one

Before starting the upgrade of the well, you need to measure the maximum height of the water column. Then pump out a fixed volume (as an option - 1 ring) and note the time during which the water level will be restored. You can also compare the data of your own and a neighbor's well to collect statistics.

Well to the well of strife

The technology for pumping a drinking well, in order to achieve maximum water flow, depends on the structure of the soil in which it is dug. Usually, sandy quicksand wells are characterized by low height, but high inflow power. If for other wells full pumping is not recommended, but for sandy quicksand it is simply prohibited. Anyone who has ever seen water flying mixed with quicksand sand understands that such an experience cannot be repeated. The weight of the water column stabilizes the bottom, preventing it from silting up, even the deepening of such wells is carried out in the presence of water in the mine. When it is completely pumped out, the bottom of the well will be covered with sand in a matter of hours or minutes. The active movement of the quicksand can lead to the displacement of the lower rings of the structure and finally disable the well. The maximum volume of water sampling is no more than a quarter of the height of the column.

Do not pump wells on sandy quicksand yourself if your experience is a few read articles and communication on thematic forums. In this case, it is better to leave everything as it is, because the water will arrive very quickly, or to attract professionals who can prove their competence.

clay wells

In terms of buildup, they are the most promising. Approximately 2/3 of all wells fall on clay. The buildup process lasts a very long time, the maximum level can be achieved a few years after digging the well. This is due to the fact that clay gives off water very weakly, and it will take time and patience to create reclaimed productive water veins.

As with sandy quicksand, full pumping out of a well on clay is not recommended. The exposed surface of the walls and bottom begins to harden and cement, leading to clogging of the pores and a decrease in the flow rate of the well

The main mistake when swinging wells on clay: a low-hanging pump clogged or even sank into a quicksand.

Proper well design

If the small thickness of the aquifer is a feature of the area, then it is necessary to equip a perfect well or a perfect one with a sump.

It happens that when digging a well, there is a horizon with tasty water, but it is shallow or weak. This is not a reason to continue to dig deeper, you can equip it so that there will be enough water for all needs. The fact is that sometimes unscrupulous hired diggers or self-taught masters equip an imperfect well, the bottom of which goes a little deeper into the thickness of the aquifer. Water is taken almost from the surface.

A more thoughtful option is a perfect well. Its bottom coincides with the bottom of the aquifer; it will dry up completely only together with it. Seasonal fluctuations will affect the amount of water, but not critically.

Joker among the wells - perfect with a sump. Its shaft passes through the entire water carrier, and goes down by 1-2 rings. This recess creates a buffer tank where water flows. Thus, the height of the bottom of the well is lower, and the column and water supply are larger.

The buildup - real or not?

A really tangible result is the buildup of wells, where water comes from clay. Streams are gradually washed in it, along which water flows from the aquifer. The disadvantage is the slowness of the process, it may take several years to get the desired flow rate of the well.

There are professionals who say that the buildup does not give noticeable results, due to the fact that the depth and thickness of the aquifer does not depend on the personal preferences of the owner of the site or the skill of the construction team, but solely on the hydrogeological features of the area.

It is not recommended to use vibration pumps of the “Kid” type for swinging, diverging vibration destroys the soil around the rings, soil shift clogs the supply keys. It turns out: I wanted the best, but it turned out, as always

According to this version, only the number of rings installed directly in the horizon can be varied. If the inflow power is large, one is enough, if it is weak, then at least three are installed.

The version takes place for well-defined aquifers, the water from which will flow through the bottom of the well. For mines where water will seep through perforated sidewalls, swinging will bring results.

How to do without swinging

In order not to have to deal with rocking the well, you can order the services of a specialist geologist who will explore the site and indicate the best place for digging the mine, but you will have to pay for reconnaissance by battle. On the other hand, the power of the well will be more predictable and encouraging.

If there is already a well, but there is not enough water in it yet, you can plan the pumping process. First you need to wait until the water fills the shaft as much as possible. Sometimes this takes days or weeks. This happens if the digging was carried out during a dry period.

You need to deepen the well to a deep aquifer (more on deepening the well). Non-professionals often dig to the first puddle and happily report that the well is ready. This is a typical hack, the top water will be collected in the mine. It can be clean and transparent, and even tasty, but safe for health, only if the site is located in a nature reserve, and there are no highways and fields for kilometers around.

If the height of the water is small, but the inflow is very intense, then a special buildup is not needed at all. The simple regular use of water will keep the well in good shape.

Advise me what to do. This summer they built a garden house for me in the Tver province. And I specifically ordered to dig a well for me on the site in the late autumn. I asked the brigade to find a better place, it didn’t matter to me exactly where, it was still an empty abandoned site.

When they dug, I was not at the dacha, I worked in the city. For some reason, they and their vine chose a part of the site where I have incomprehensible clay without any admixture of earth. She's like butter. I demolished an old shed there, its walls were completely rotten, they were pierced with a finger, it is not clear how it stood there at all - the impression that there was some kind of swamp in this place.
Other parts of the area around the house with sand and stones and earth, and there is good black soil.
So - they brought me 8 rings, but they buried only 5, they said it was not necessary below.
They put a house on top. They sent a photo - I paid the money.
The foreman said that when I arrived, I should pump out a couple of rings of water - fresh water would come and it would be possible to drink.
I arrived, I didn’t like that there was a hole around the well, they left from above, and then the clay slid down, and the well, like a tooth in the gum, was exposed inside. Then I used a shovel to throw clay into this hefty crack for several days, but it rained, it was washed away and it fell down there again, I had to dig it up again.
And most of all I was upset that the water, not only to drink, but you can’t wash the floors with it - it’s just kind of greasy and saturated with this clay. Throughout November and December, while it was warm, I came every weekend and drained this filthy water, but it did not become any clearer.
And I so wanted to take a bath!
I walked with heavy buckets through two houses to the neighbors for water, in order to treat myself to a little bath on Saturday.
I got terribly upset. I wrote to the artist on WhatsApp that the well is terrible, maybe they chose the wrong place? right in the clay?
Then I started calling him, but he no longer picks up the phone, a filthy freak.
And so, I spent the money, and was left with nothing.
Tell me, please - is it worth calling other guys and repairing this well, or is it better to dig anew in another place in normal soil? Where is this mine going?
This is terrible, considering that there are problems at work, money is not tight.
By the way - the water is higher than the roof - I poured 2-3 rings of it, and a day later, a new one was already poured right under the eyeballs, but it was dirty ... You throw a bucket on a chain into one ring into the water.
Please help with advice! I don’t have men in my house - no one chop with a saber ...
I deleted the photo, unfortunately. From WhatsApp, I got a tiny collage of several photos:
