How to weave a dragon scale elastic band bracelet using different techniques. Dragon scales (mesh) - a rubber band bracelet How to make a dragon bracelet out of rubber bands

A bracelet made of rubber bands using the “dragon scale” weaving technique is a multi-colored mesh in which silicone rubber bands are intertwined in a checkerboard pattern. Depending on the choice of the tool used, such a bracelet will differ only in width. For example, on the Monster Tail loom you will get a wide accessory with 8 or more rows, which correspond to the number of columns on the tool. When weaving on a slingshot or an ordinary table fork, the bracelet is only 4 rows. Despite a significant reduction in the rows and width of the bracelet, the finished product does not lose its original openwork shape and style. Today we will tell you how to weave a stylish bracelet on your own from small elastic bands of dragon scales on a fork or slingshot.

This master class will clearly show that a thin bracelet using the “dragon scales” weaving technique on a slingshot has a place to be. This narrow accessory is somewhat similar to the other Pavement weaving technique, the photo shows both of these bracelets for comparison. On the left is an airy mesh of dragon scales, on the right is a dense sidewalk.

How to weave a rubber band bracelet using the Dragon Scale weaving technique on a slingshot

For work you will need:

  • Green elastic bands in the amount of 20-24 pieces
  • Blue gum also in the amount of 20-24 pieces
  • Slingshot
  • Plastic crochet hook No. 4
  • S-shaped plastic clasp

The slingshot is taken in the hand in the direction of the grooves towards you. The green elastic band, twisting into a figure eight, is strung on the columns of the slingshot. Only this first elastic band is strung in this way, all other elastic bands are strung in the usual way without any twists. A blue elastic band is strung on a slingshot.

Then, with the help of a thin crochet hook, the outer side of the lower green elastic band clings, which is then dropped into the middle of the tool. In this way, the weaving of dragon scales on a slingshot begins.

Another green elastic band is strung on the tool, on which, with the help of a hook, two lower elastic bands of blue and green colors are dropped from the right clove of the slingshot.

The next in order is the blue rubber band. All subsequent elastic bands are strung alternately in color through one. On this blue elastic band, the two lower elastic bands from the left clove of the slingshot are dropped into the middle.

This pattern of stringing and dropping elastic bands with a hook is repeated until all the elastic bands prepared in advance are used up. Each time when stringing a new elastic band on the tool, it is necessary to crochet two lower elastic bands from the clove, on which there were three of them.

After all the elastic bands are woven into the future accessory, three loops should remain on the slingshot: two loops on one clove and one on the opposite, as shown in the photo.

From the clove of the slingshot, on which two loops are strung, one elastic band is dropped with a hook into the middle between the teeth. The second gum remaining on this column is transferred to the opposite tooth.

After all these manipulations, the rubber band product is slightly stretched with your fingers, and both elastic bands on the clove are hooked on the S-shaped fastener.

The almost finished accessory is removed from the slingshot. The initial elastic band, twisted into a figure eight, is strung on a hook. The bracelet is stretched on the hook and clings with starting loops to the second free hook of the clasp.

That's all, a bracelet made of elastic bands of two colors using the weaving technique "Dragon Scales" is ready!

Trying to create an accessory on a fork and on a loom

Instead of a slingshot, you can use an ordinary table fork. The weaving algorithm will be the same if you decide to weave a bracelet from two types of elastic bands. In this case, two cloves of the fork will equal one column of the slingshot. If you decide to use all 4 cloves of the fork for its intended purpose, then you will have to double the number of rubber bands and the execution technique. In the first row, not one elastic band twisted with a figure eight will be strung, but two, the same applies to subsequent rows. As a result, you will get a bracelet not of two rows, but of four, which will significantly increase its width. In this case, you can use not two, but for example, four types of colored rubber bands.

A scaly bracelet is woven on the loom in the same way as on a slingshot. An important condition is only that the machine must be collapsible, because in order to weave this openwork decoration, it is necessary to remove all the outer rows of columns of the machine and leave only one central one. The number of columns left depends only on the capabilities of your tool and desire, the main thing is that their number be a multiple of 2. This is done so that the elastic bands are strung immediately on a couple of columns.

Also, do not forget about the staggered arrangement of rubber bands. The first row for the machine in 8 columns is woven as follows: on the columns numbered 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 7 and 8, one twisted elastic band is strung on. The second row of gum of the same color is strung on columns numbered 2 and 3, 4 and 5, 6 and 7. They are hooked and gradually dropped to the center between the gum columns from those columns where there are more than one. The next rows are recruited according to the same pattern, but without twisting the elastic bands.

The small machine is very convenient to use, it is suitable for weaving not very complex bracelets or crafts. For beginners, this is the best solution.

Weaving a dragon scale bracelet on forks

Weaving on forks is already a popular option, which shows that there is nothing complicated in creating Rainbow Loom jewelry. On the forks, you can easily tie a simple bracelet, or a small craft, which requires one row of posts. Of course, for more complex products, a more serious machine will be needed.

And here is the same machine that was mentioned above, or rather its one row. The machine itself usually consists of two to three rows of posts, which are connected into one system. The posts themselves are made in a special way - on one side there is a fixing edge, and on the other side it is cut off, for easy removal of elastic bands with a hook or fingers.

Weaving dragon scales on the loom

I hope this small selection of videos of bracelet weaving master classes was useful, and now you can easily make a simple dragon scale bracelet. More different crafts can be viewed in the section of our website:. See you on the pages of our site!

The Dragon Scale rubber band bracelet is one of the most popular. Very elastic (due to the specifics of weaving, a bracelet of the same length will fit the owners of hands of different sizes) and airy, delicate weaving resembles lace (or maybe chain mail?). This wide bracelet is weaved, however, quite quickly and simply, and it does not require a lot of elastic bands to make it.

The Internet offers to weave "scales" on a fork, and on a slingshot, and on a loom. Still, the last option is the most convenient. It is important to carefully follow the sequence of actions so as not to be disappointed with the result. It is precisely the expanded weaving on the loom that gives visibility; in this case, you will need only one row of columns.

To weave the Dragon Scale bracelet you will need:

elastic bands of two colors;

4 fasteners.

How to weave a bracelet "Dragon Scales": a description of the work

To weave "scales" you will need a regular weaving machine, but only one row of posts. The rest of the rows can be removed, or you can not remove it, so the design is more stable, as it seems to me. In any case, the extra rows will not interfere with weaving, but they will not be used either.

We work on the extreme columns to you.

For the master class, the bracelet "Dragon Scales" is woven from elastic bands of two colors. This is very convenient if you are dealing with this type of weaving for the first time, because it allows you not to get confused in the rows. In the future, if you like weaving, you can weave plain, and rainbow, and any other bracelets that your fantasy only tells you.

The undoubted advantage of such weaving is that the length of the finished bracelet is not limited to the length of the machine, as it was, for example, in.

So let's get started. In eights we stretch 4 red elastic bands: on the first and second columns, the third and fourth, the fifth and sixth, the seventh and eighth.

From above we put on white elastic bands, also in eights: on the second and third; to the fourth and fifth, to the sixth and seventh, to the eighth and ninth.

The next stage is throwing up the lower elastic bands. We are only interested in those columns on which there were 2 rubber bands. In this case, we hook the bottom one with a hook and throw it over the column.

We do the same for all the other columns, where there were 2 elastic bands each.

Next - red rubber bands again. We put them on evenly, without a figure-eight cross (like all the other subsequent elastic bands in this bracelet). The red rubber bands should be exactly in the same positions as the first red row.

Again, we look at where we ended up with 2 rubber bands (everywhere except for the last column), and we throw off the lower elastic bands behind the columns.

The last we put on were red elastic bands, which means that now we will put on white ones. As already mentioned, without a cross, starting from the second column, i.e. whites will be in the same positions as the previous "white" row.

We throw off the lower elastic bands for the posts.

We continue to alternate red and white elastic bands and throw off the lower elastic bands behind the posts.

Did you weave to the desired length of the bracelet? The last row should be the same color as the first. In our case, red.

We weave it in the traditional way, and then we connect the elastic bands:

  • from the first column we throw off the red rubber band to the second;
  • from the third to the fourth;
  • from fifth to sixth;
  • from the seventh to the eighth;
  • from the ninth - also to the eighth.

We got 4 columns with rubber bands. And we take figure-eight fasteners to fasten each of them with all those rubber bands that were on each column.

We examine the first row and select loops on it, which will also go into the fastener. We attach red loops to the free parts of each fastener.

Our Dragon Scale rubber bracelet is ready.

We hope that all the nuances of creating such a bracelet were clear, and if you still have questions about how to weave it, please ask them in the comments.

Weaving dragon scales on the loom

I hope this small selection of videos of bracelet weaving master classes was useful, and now you can easily make a simple dragon scale bracelet. You can see more different crafts in the section of our website: Crafts. See you on the pages of our site!

In order to make a bracelet of colored rubber bands, reminiscent of dragon scales in its weaving, thanks to which this technique got its name, we need the following materials and tools:

  • orange rubber bands - 20 pieces;
  • black rubber bands - 20 pieces;
  • slingshot;
  • hook;
  • plastic lock.

Please note that if your arsenal does not have special devices for creating such jewelry, you can use two ordinary pencils connected to each other or weave on your fingers instead of a slingshot, and the hook can be replaced with a regular crochet hook.

Weaving stages

1. We take the first rubber band, in our case it is black, we cross it and put it on both parts of the slingshot.

2. Next, we take the second rubber band, we have it orange, and without crossing we also put it on both parts of the slingshot.

3. After that, using a hook, carefully remove the loops of the lower black elastic band from the right side of the slingshot and place it in the center of the upper orange one.

4. Then we put on the slingshot without twisting the next elastic band, it should again be black, it is important to correctly observe the alternation of colors of the elastic bands, only in this case the bracelet will turn out to be original with a pronounced decorative weaving. After the third elastic band is put on, you can see that on the left side of the slingshot we have formed three loops of elastic bands (black, orange, black), and on the right side only two (orange and black). Using a hook, carefully remove the two lower loops from the left side of the slingshot and place them in the center of the upper elastic band.

5. Then we put on the slingshot without twisting the orange elastic band and just as in the previous step, only from the right side of the slingshot with the help of a hook we remove the next two lower elastic loops on the upper elastic band in the center.

6. We continue to weave the bracelet according to the principle described above to the desired length, be sure to observe the alternation of colors of the rubber bands.

7. To finish the bracelet, we no longer put on another elastic band on top, but instead we crochet the lower loop of the elastic band on that side of the slingshot, on which there were two of them, and place it in the center of the upper one.
