Stages.

  1. We coat the vessel with glue and wrap it tightly enough with twine in one layer. We are waiting for it to dry.
  2. We make flowers for decoration. To do this, put the cling film on the bottle. Across the bottle on the film we form a petal with a string coated with glue. Thus creating an elongated drop. We take the twine a little longer, coat it with glue. We wrap the first drop around the outside with it, tightly pressing the threads to each other. With each layer of twine, the petal will increase in size. Having reached the desired size of the petal, you need to stop and wait until the product dries. Detach from the bottle. We make five more such petals.

Currently, decoupage products are gaining great popularity not only among needlewomen, but also among people far from art. With it, you can update almost all interior items: caskets, baskets, cabinets and even walls. Glass products did not slip out of the hands of craftswomen: whether it be dishes or an ordinary vase.

Decoupage and everything you need

To decorate items, there is no need to purchase in specialized stores. You can buy almost everything you need at the office or ask your younger brothers and sisters.

To start decorating, you need to have on hand:

  • Table napkins or rice paper
  • brushes
  • Small bowl for soaking
  • sharp scissors
  • Acrylic or polyurethane varnish
  • Stationery glue (it is better to take PVA)

And, of course, the product itself is a vase. Decoupage can be done not only flower vases, but also bottles, jars or containers for bulk items.

After the basic materials for work are collected, other decoration elements can be purchased. It can be:

  • Stencils with various patterns
  • Beads, rhinestones, colorful threads, glass
  • stained glass paints
  • Paper with artistic images

Classic is always in fashion

You can turn ordinary decor elements into stylish and unusual ones using ordinary table napkins or any other paper illustration.

If you want even more originality, then use a photo instead of a vase decoupage napkin. Don't forget to print it out first.

In order to avoid difficulties in execution, we have prepared detailed wizard vase decoupage class:

  • Wipe with alcohol or simply wash the workpiece with detergent. This will degrease and remove dirt from its surface.
  • Paint the vase with acrylic paint of your choice. In places of future application, make the layer thicker.
  • Dry the vase. This will take 2-3 hours.
  • Prepare paper motifs. For a more even fit of the pattern, make cuts around its perimeter.
  • Spread glue on the illustration and stick it in the right place. At this stage, the blank can be decorated with other decorative elements.
  • Let the vase dry.

"Antique"

This technique of decoupage of a vase with napkins can make a real masterpiece out of an absolutely nondescript object. The vintage look of such products is given by a special varnish, which is applied between layers of dry paint.

After the varnish dries, the surface cracks. The size and number of cracks directly depends on the amount of varnish.

To properly age the vase and achieve the desired effect, we have prepared instructions for beginner needlewomen:

  • Degrease and dry the vessel
  • Cut out the pattern and soak for a minute in water
  • Lay out the design on the fabric. Apply glue liberally on the back
  • Lay the fragment on the vase with the wrong side. Coat the outside with adhesive.
  • Dry the workpiece. For a faster effect, you can use a hair dryer.
  • Apply the first coat of craquelure polish, then the second. Dry each layer.
  • At this stage, you can fill the cracks with bitumen or bronze powder.
  • Cover the vase with varnish and let dry.

Big city style

This technique is called "simplicity". It is considered to be the least expensive, since any paper publications are used to decorate vessels. These can be magazines, old books, music books or newspapers.

To decorate the surface, simply tear the sheets into small pieces. Then degrease the surface, glue the pieces with decoupage glue. The uniqueness of the products is given by the open technique of execution and the presence of torn, careless edges.

Shabby chic

A distinctive feature of this style is the presence of "old chic", that is, artificial scuffs. Such interior items add mystery and romance to the atmosphere.

Most often used to decorate the surface:

  • Multilayer napkins
  • Rice or mulberry paper. With its help, you can add volume to the composition
  • Photo printing. You can take photos of your loved ones or favorite celebrities.

To date, to decorate interior items using decoupage technique, you can use different styles. You can radically change the situation and make it unique by devoting a little time to needlework.

Even a child can master our master class on decoupage of a vase. Spending time together will only benefit you and help you unleash your creative qualities. And you can use decoupage items for school crafts, and as original gifts friends.

Photo decoupage vase

We separate the lower layers from the napkin and leave only the top. Lubricate the intended area for the napkin on the vase with glue and carefully apply the part. After that, we dip the brush into the glue and, moving from the center to the periphery, glue the napkin to the vase with a flat brush. If small folds form, it's okay, then they will merge with the background and after applying the fixing varnish they will be invisible. However, if you have an ornament, extra creases and folds can disrupt the pattern. For decoupage, it will be easier to cut the ornament into segments here. You should not press hard with a brush, as the napkin is thin and can be torn off by intense movements.

After all the elements are glued, you can start decorating the vase. Let's complement the pattern with gold patterns to make the vase more interesting. You can also draw on the napkins themselves, shading some areas. Since the background of the napkin was milky, now it stands out slightly against the white clay vase. It is worth walking with white acrylic paint along the contour of the napkins and toning the difference in color. The same can be done when the drawing is very complex and it is simply impossible to cut it out completely - just apply a base color on top of the napkin. This will also make it easier for children, as it is also difficult for them to cut even light details perfectly and accurately. If the base of the vase is plaster, it will be somewhat more difficult to apply. First, you will have to treat it with varnish, so that the plaster base of the vase does not get wet when applying a napkin.

When the clay vase is dry, we apply varnish and let it dry. Over time, the varnish will fade, so you will need to periodically reapply a layer of varnish in the future. We got a wonderful vase, using the decoupage technique, which you can give or keep as a keepsake.
